The Arc Raiders Shrouded Sky update has introduced a variety of new challenges for Raiders to take on – if they can brave the storm. In addition to more quests, the Surgeon Raider Deck, and various map updates, a new Weather Monitoring System project has begun. While each of the five stages requires many of the usual parts needed, some stages task Raiders with retrieving unfamiliar materials to complete.

The Hurricane map condition brings new ARC threats to Topside, and with new ARC comes more parts to obtain. This Arc Raiders guide will help Raiders locate and retrieve Comet Igniters, allowing them to advance to the next stage of the Weather Monitoring System project.

ARC Raiders Officially Reveals New Map Condition, and It's a Hurricane

Embark Studios shares more details about the upcoming Shrouded Sky map condition, confirming it will feature a deadly hurricane.

Where to Find Comet Igniters in Arc Raiders

The Comet Igniter part can be found on Comets, one of two new ARC threats introduced with the Shrouded Sky update. While the patch has introduced the harsh Hurricane map condition, it seems that Comets can be found at any time, day or night. The tricky part, however, is taking them down before they do it themselves.

Comets are sphere-like ARC similar to Fireballs and Pops, which rush toward you at high speeds before emitting a high-pitched whine and exploding. They have a single vertical light sensor on the front, are slightly larger than Fireballs, but smaller than Surveyors.

Unlike Fireballs and Pops, Comets typically won't be found inside buildings. They are much more likely to be roaming outside and around various points of interest on each map.

To loot a Comet Igniter from a Comet, you need to destroy it before it detonates. You can loot a Comet after it has self-destructed; however, the Igniter will have already been destroyed by then.

How to Kill a Comet Before it Explodes in Arc Raiders

Unlike Pops, which are easily disposed of with most guns, Comets are heavily armored. That means you'll need heavy weapons like Anvils, Ferros, or Bettinas to take them down quickly. Heavy Fuze Grenades, Trigger 'Nades, and Seeker Grenades also work well against Comets, but aren't guaranteed to disable them instantly. If you spot flames emitting from a Comet, try to follow up with a couple of heavy ammo shots to its sides.

Distance and the element of surprise are your two best friends here. If you're not using grenades, try to spot a Comet from a far distance and chip its armor away with an Anvil or Ferro. The more distance it has to travel to get to you, the better chance you have of destroying it first.

If you have grenades at your disposal, try sneaking up to a Comet and utilizing cover to hide. Using a Heavy Fuze or Trigger 'Nade as your first attack will deal significant damage to the Comet's shell. From there, take out your Anvil and finish the job.

If you successfully disable a Comet before it explodes, you'll have two separate parts to loot. The first is the outer ring, which contains common and rare ARC parts such as ARC Coolant and Advanced ARC Powercells. The second is the core, which contains the Comet Igniter.

You'll need at least one Comet Igniter to finish stage two of the Weather Monitoring System project. Stage five will require the Firefly Burner, another new ARC material introduced in the Shrouded Sky update.
