The CEO of Polish publisher CI Games has given a promising update on the progression of Lords of the Fallen version 2.0 and teased a big update scheduled to arrive in April 2025. The Lords of the Fallen content roadmap previously explained that the devs would continue to release updates for the action RPG up until version 2.0, aiming to provide key improvements based on community feedback and external player testing until a greater focus is set upon developing the sequel.

Lords of the Fallen was first released in 2023 and serves as a soft reboot and sequel to the 2014 game of the same name, following the player’s quest to usurp Adyr, the demon God, within a dark fantasy setting. Lords of the Fallen is also one of the best games to play for Dark Souls fans, as the game’s aesthetic, lore, and unforgiving boss battles tie into the popular Soulslike genre.

On the heels of Lords of the Fallen being announced as a PS5 Pro Enhanced title back in October 2024, Lampbearers have another surprise to look forward to on the horizon. Posted on Twitter, CI Games' CEO Marek Tyminski provided a positive update on the development of Lords of the Fallen version 2.0, saying, “Wrapping up the final touches on Lords of the Fallen - V.2.0.” In tandem, the CEO also encouraged fans to prepare for the major update landing in April 2025. “Get ready for the very big update coming April 2025,” Tyminski teased, keeping tight-lipped on any details that might give content surprises away.

CI Games' CEO Confirms Big Lords of the Fallen Version 2.0 Update for April 2025

Players are still soaking up the new features that landed within Lords of the Fallen’s February 2025 update, which added the highly-requested dynamic HUD options, alongside the integration of Intel Xe Super Sampling (XeSS) that boosts performance without affecting image quality. However, fans are trying to work out what the big April update could deliver. Some fans thought the new version could include a major overhaul of the game’s co-op system, after several complaints flooded in, or introduce new weapons, spells, armor, and bosses. Additionally, Tyminski responded to a separate comment confirming the changes coming to version 2.0 would be outlined in a developer showcase.

The Lords of the Fallen sequel received an exciting update last year, as CI Games noted the successor entry had entered full production. Initially codenamed “Project III,” the sequel’s promising development adds credence to previous rumors that predicted the project was targeting a 2026 release. Additionally, the next entry is expected to have a "more commercial art style and narrative," flaunting higher production values and including shared-progression co-op.
