Recently, Apex Legends  developer Respawn Entertainment nerfed two of the most popular guns in the increasingly popular battle royale title, with the Wingman and the Peacekeeper getting tweaks. As far as the Peacekeeper is concerned, its Shotgun Bolt re-chamber rate has been reduced. Both guns are also slightly harder to find in the game, and when it comes to the Wingman, popular Twitch streamer Shroud has some criticisms.

Shroud acknowledges how Respawn wants Apex Legends to have a certain skill curve and weapons that are designed to be quick throwaways, so he begins his critique by stating that not buffing the Mozambique was the least of his worries. The Twitch streamer goes on to argue that the Wingman nerf "literally did nothing." The nerf reduced the fire rate of the Wingman from 3.1 shots per second to 2.6, and the damage behind the Skullpiercer attachment was reduced from a 2.5 multiplier to 2.25.

In the tiered weapon curve of Apex Legends, it makes sense to have high tier guns like the Wingman, so it's clear why Respawn wouldn't want to nerf it too severely. Yet Shroud thinks they should have done more, as the Skullpiercer wasn't the issue with the gun, and the half-second reduction of fire rate is hardly noticeable. Shroud also acknowledges that Respawn was likely scared to nerf it, but that doing nothing in a nerf somewhat defeats the purpose.

For those who haven't been keeping up with the Twitch scene, Shroud is one of the most prominent streamers. He's a former CS:GO pro who has made a name for himself playing other titles such as PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, Black Ops 4, Rainbow Six Siege, and of course, Apex Legends.

Of course, many believe that the Wingman should be nerfed harder, so it will be interesting to see how this develops as the battle royale title moves into its first season. Beyond hopefully bringing more guns to add more variety, it seems likely that the high-speed daredevil Octane will be dropping into Apex Legends very soon.

Apex Legends  is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
