Apex Legends is one of the more stylized battle royales out there. The wide range of Legends, the unique and varied gunplay, and the smooth gameplay allows Apex Legends to be a montage-factory. Players often post highlight moments online to show off epic moments, as there are few games that allow for the experiences that Apex Legends provides. However, one player recently posted a comical fail instead, and the slipup ruining a trailer-like moment makes it glorious.
Apex Legends trailers are known for their flair. Respawn Entertainment uses flashy gameplay to show off brand-new modes, fresh seasons, exciting new Legends, and more. Octane and his Jump Pads are often a key instrument in an Apex Legends video, as flying through the sky and landing a deadly shot is exciting. However, misusing the Jump Pad in comical fashion is also very possible.
Reddit user u/Sodity recently uploaded a hilarious video on the Apex Legends subreddit. The player was using Octane on the new Control game mode. While rushing towards the objective, u/Sodity slid into a Jump Pad, double jumped, and perfectly landed on a second Jump Pad. They then tossed a grenade and slid perfectly into enemy territory, guns blazing. The only problem was the aforementioned grenade.
Instead of getting a kill with the grenade and smoothly transitioning to the next enemy, the Octane player landed directly on the primed grenade, and it took them out. Octane lost his legs due to a grenade stunt gone wrong (an homage to a certain Titanfall 2 speedrun method). In this case, he lost his life (until he respawned of course).
The popularity of Apex Legends is hard to deny. After launching in February of 2019 with no marketing ahead of it, Apex Legends has quickly become one of the most beloved multiplayer shooters, battle royales, and ongoing games as a service title. A big reason for that is how strong the core DNA of the game is, and how Respawn Entertainment continues to support it in successful ways. Varied and entertaining gameplay is another major contributor. Portals allow players to get in and out of scenarios, decoys confuse enemies, grapplers let players slingshot across the battlefield, and black holes suck in everything in sight.
The gameplay allows for amazing moments that can only be accomplished in Apex Legends. However, it also means that players will sometimes comically fail, though this is still just part of the fun.
Apex Legends is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, and Xbox One. A Mobile version is available in some locations.
