Longtime Apex Legends players have a pretty good idea of what to expect from Respawn's battle royale game season to season. That said, Respawn has done a great job over the past several seasons of changing it up enough that it's impossible to fully predict what's next. From character reworks and class overhauls to game modes like Solos and Quads, the surprises don't seem to stop coming, and that's true of season 25 as well.
While players can expect the usual with new Battle Passes, cosmetics, and the like, Apex Legends season 25 is also introducing a brand new character, bringing back Arenas, introducing explosive arrows, and more.
Apex Legends Season 25 New Character: Sparrow
Sparrow is an agile archer with a tendency for showing off. Prior to joining the Apex Games, he worked with his family as a bounty hunter before being shunned for unrevealed reasons. He is then recruited by Blisk for the Apex Games; he enjoys the spotlight but ultimately hopes that his family sees him and one day welcomes him back. Last, but certainly not least, he also has a pet cat named Artemis.
For the first time, Sparrow is also unlocked for all Apex Legends players during the first two weeks of the season. Completing challenges will unlock him permanently; otherwise, after that period, players can unlock him normally. Gameplay-wise, Sparrow feels like he fits somewhere neatly between a Controller legend and a Recon Legend.
Sparrow Abilities
- Passive: Double Jump - Sparrow can double jump. He can also use this second jump when scaling a wall.
- Tactical: Tracker Dart - Sparrow marks and tracks enemies who come into the range/zone of his Tracker Dart.
- Ultimate: Stinger Bolt - Sparrow lets loose a giant arrow that plants in the ground. After a short charge time, it pulses 6 times and deals 20 damage each time to everyone in its area of effect. Anyone who takes this damage is also slowed.
The Bocek Gets Some Love
Fitting for the season where an Archer joins the Apex Games is the Bocek becoming ground loot once again. However, it comes with several tweaks.
- Arrows do not join the loot pool. Instead, picking up a new Bocek will bring with it 40 arrows with a display similar to the Crate weapons. Players are able to pick these up from death boxes and the world.
- The Bocek can be loaded up with Frag Grenades to create explosive arrows.
- Sparrow does synergize with the Bocek and gets a few small bonuses, like additional arrows.
Arenas Are Back
Arenas are coming back to Apex Legends, with the game mode returning to mostly the same. With new legends and some friction removed, however, players can expect it to be even more fast-paced and engaging than before. Respawn also intends to roll out numerous updates over the season that bring even more life and creativity to Arenas, including Arenas: Duels.
Arena: Duels will be a 1v1 version of Arenas available for a limited time.
And So Much More
Of course, that's all just scratching the surface. Ranked is getting a new Ladder system and divetrail rewards, a few classes are getting balance tweaks, and Pathfinder is getting buffed. Zipline Zen returns, which increases damage reduction; the variable cooldown of 15-30 seconds is back for Pathfinder's Grappling Hook; and his upgrades ensure he is a threat on the battlefield, with a Double Ultimate Charge and Double Tactical Charge being two options.
Overall, it's a solid direction for a new season of Apex Legends.
