Apex Legends players are encountering a new season 15 bug when it comes to Recon Legend Seer, and it is preventing him from being able to scan the map with Survey Beacons. As many players know, using survey beacons is a key part of every recon character in Apex Legends and gives those teams useful knowledge regarding the ring's upcoming closure.
Indeed, it seems every season of Apex Legends launches with a handful of bugs, as everything coming in the update may not mesh well with other aspects of the game. It's impossible for Respawn Entertainment to catch them all, so while seasonal launches are pretty reliable when it comes to time and date, players often know to look out for bugs at the start of the game.
This bug, as first reported on by Dexerto, is clearly unintentional on Respawn Entertainment's part. No major changes were made to characters in Apex Legends season 15, which is surprising because Respawn usually buffs or nerfs a character or two, but this is not tied to that. When Seer approaches a Survey Beacon, he is still getting the prompt to use the Beacon, but when players attempt to, nothing happens. This can be seen in the video below, where YouTuber Skeptation implies this is a secret nerf not listed in the Apex Legends patch notes. However, had this been the case, then it's very unlikely Seer would continue to receive the prompt.
Of course, this makes Seer less playable right now. While his kit makes him an excellent pick, this removes one of the key advantages of him being a Recon Legend. Every other character to do so, and how this impacts rotation in Apex Legends is a big deal. Indeed, the safe option for recon legends who want to adequately support this team is to pick another character like Vantage or Bloodhound.
Hopefully, this is something Respawn Entertainment can fix quickly. Overall, it does seem the launch of Apex Legends season 15 is going more smoothly than season 14, which introduced a lot more bugs than this season (or at least as it seems so far). In the meantime, it may be worth letting any Seer in a squad know that they may not able to scan the ring until this bug is fixed.
