UPDATE 5/13: Respawn has re-enabled Revenant and fixed his Ultimate in Apex Legends. In addition, the developer has taken action against accounts that repeatedly abused the Ultimate exploit before the Legend was removed.
Original story follows.
Summary
- Respawn removed Revenant from Apex Legends due to an invincibility bug with his Ultimate.
- Clips circulating online showed how to exploit the bug, causing frustration for Ranked players.
- Season 25 introduced new content like the Legend Sparrow, but the game has faced various bugs.
Respawn Entertainment has temporarily removed Revenant from Season 25 of Apex Legends following the discovery of a game-breaking bug involving his Ultimate. While Revenant does not have the highest pick rate in Apex Legends, this newly discovered bug made him potentially the most dangerous character in the battle royale, necessitating a fix from the development team.
Season 25 started on May 6, bringing new content to the game. Notably, Apex Legends introduced Sparrow, the first new Legend since Alter in Season 21. In addition, the seasonal update brought back Arenas as an LTM and made many balance changes to weapons and characters, helping keep the experience fresh for players. However, the new season has had some issues following its launch. Players have already discovered a variety of bugs, with one of the most recent involving Revenant’s Ultimate. Following a simple process, the Legend could become invincible while using Forged Shadows.

The Best War Games speaks with three Apex Legends devs about the creation of season 25's newest Legend, the archer Sparrow.
As a result of this Ultimate bug, Respawn has temporarily removed Revenant from the game. The developer announced the removal on social media and noted that a fix was being worked on for multiple game modes, suggesting this invincibility glitch could happen in Arenas and Mixtape. Currently, the character has been removed from the Legend Locker, with their icon gone from the Skirmisher category of the Apex Legends roster. While the development team is working on resolving the issue, a timetable for when Revenant could be added back to the game is unknown.
Apex Legends Removes Revenant to Fix Invincibility Bug
While Respawn did not show the glitch in action, numerous clips of the exploit have been circulating on social media. Apex Legends YouTuber bobz recently uploaded a video that showcased how to activate the bug. According to bobz, Revenant could become invincible if hit by a grenade shortly after popping his Ultimate. This would allow Revenant to take infinite damage while in his shadow form, letting him push enemy squads without risk of being knocked. Unsurprisingly, this bug quickly started to be abused in Ranked matches, causing frustration for many players.
This Revenant bug comes after another frustrating bug that involved the new Legend Sparrow. In that case, players' games would crash when Sparrow used his Stinger Bolt on a Mirage Ultimate. Fortunately, Respawn has seemingly fixed that issue in a patch, but other problems are still reportedly popping up.
Hopefully, this Revenant bug will be fixed soon so he can return to the roster. One of the draws of the game is its lineup of engaging Legends. While many other Apex Legends characters are worth playing, this bug is doubtlessly disappointing for those who enjoy playing Revenant.
