Like many of its competitors in the Battle Royale space, Apex Legends took to the Battle Pass formula early on in its life cycle, giving players rewards for playing consistently. With different daily and weekly challenges, players can engage with the multiplayer content of the game to unlock free rewards from the Battle Pass, usually skins of different weapons and champions, emotes, and other miscellaneous items that enhance the visual aspect of the game in some way.
However, there is always a monetized premium tier for any battle pass, and Apex Legends is no different. All of its battle passes have had free and premium rewards, with the premium rewards being much more plentiful and "exotic" compared to the free ones. Usually, unlocking the premium rewards would require the player to buy a premium currency in-game using real money, but that is no longer the case in Season 22: Shockwave.

How to Unlock Premium Battle Pass Rewards for Free in Season 22: Shockwave
Apex Legends is a game that respects its player base, at least more than some of the other games in the industry that shove aggressive monetization schemes and loot boxes down the players' throats. Apex Legends also has a loot box system, and it has a monetized store, as well as a seasonal battle pass. However, it has always given the option for players to earn enough premium currency in every battle pass to unlock the next one without having to pay any extra money.
Effectively, it made it so that players only need to spend money once, and have infinite access to every subsequent Battle Pass, as long as they played the pass and collected all the rewards, of course. However, they have changed this in Season 22, only allowing players to buy the first split battle pass with real money.
However, they have added a way for players to obtain the first split's battle pass completely for free, only requiring them to fulfill a handful of challenges in a set amount of time to get all the goodies, minus a few that are only available in the "Premium+" Tier.
If you've already bought the Premium Tier, you will get 1,000 Apex Coins for completing these challenges.
Great Team Compositions In Apex Legends
There are near-infinite team combinations possible in Apex legends, but each combination has its pros and cons. Choose wisely.
All Challenges To Unlock Premium Battle Pass in Season 22: Shockwave
Players are on a time limit to unlock the Premium Battle Pass. They only have the first six weeks of this season to complete the challenges and get access to the Premium Battle Pass. This means you have to complete all the challenges by September 17th. However, this is not a big issue since the challenges are fairly simple, only requiring the minimum effort to complete.
- Complete 10 levels of the battle pass
- Play 2 matches in Trios E-District
- Deal 1,000 damage as a Recon/Controller Legend
- Open 15 supply bins
- Deal 500 damage with Akimbos in BR or Deal 1,000 damage with Akimbos in any mode
For the average player, it will only take a few hours to complete most of these challenges. Make sure to always pick a Recon or Controller Legend, play the Trios mode, and pick up Akimbos whenever possible to complete multiple challenges at the same time.
Premium+ Tier Rewards for Season 22 First Split Battle Pass
While you can earn the Premium tier, the Premium+ tier remains locked behind a paywall, requiring $20 to obtain. It only has a few extra goodies, namely two new legendary skins for Fuse and Loba, and some extra exotic shards. It also gives players the ability to play all legends for the duration of the battle pass, regardless of whether they have them unlocked or not, and gives them 10 battle pass levels when they purchase the tier.
If you really like the new skins, it might be worth getting this tier, or if you're a new player who wants to try out all the legends without the hassle of grinding for Legend Tokens, then this tier is the perfect choice for you.
