Apex Legends season four is in full swing, and many updates have changed characters and gameplay. An Apex Legends data miner may have found some leaks that indicate new updates and possibly an addition from the Titanfall world.
Apex Legends is based in the same universe as Titanfall and is actually a scrapped Titanfall game, which explains why so many weapons and game mechanics are shared between both titles. Because of this, many updates to Apex Legends are previous components of the Titanfall Franchise. Anytime there is an update to Apex, many wonder if it will include aspects of Titanfall games. The comparisons have gone so far that many players caused an uproar at even the thought of a certain Titanfall weapon would come to Apex Legends.
The creatures found in Apex Legends are pulled right from Titanfall, and the latest data-mine may add another creature from the franchise. Apex Legends has previously had two different interactable creatures, each added after a major update. After an update to King's Canyon, giant Leviathans were seen on the map and would take giant steps, crushing players who were unlucky enough to be underneath. The other creatures are flyers, which are pterodactyl-like creatures that dropped crates if players shot them.
The latest creature, found by dataminer iLootGames, appears to be Prowlers. These hostile creatures would attack players in Titanfall and it is believed that they may be hostile and interactive in Apex Legends as well. This was discovered by dataminer Biast12, who found file names associated with prowlers which include, "death_run_wipeout" and "diebackward." Because these file names most likely contain a death animation, it is believed that they will take damage and possibly deal damage to players as well.
Another interesting aspect associated with Prowlers is one particular file named "death_static_desertlands," which implies that a location will be linked to the new creatures. The current map, World's Edge, does not have any desert lands within it, but the original map does. Many believe that Apex Legends could be reverting back to the old map, or that the current map will be updated with new locations. All of these leaks and teasers must be met with some doubt, as Respawn has leaked false data to confuse players about coming updates.
However, another clue may lead to the confirmation of Prowlers coming to the game. Immediately after season four started, players were able to see an outline of a dog running across a bridge. Many players speculated whether this creature was a dog, or a wolf, based on the cinematic opening of season four, which teased at a character receiving a wolf totem. Now, this mysterious creature seen could in fact be a Prowler. They are small creatures that resemble the shape of a dog and run on four legs.
There are many hints pointing to Prowlers being put in Apex Legends, however, nothing is confirmed. Tweets showing the Prowler animations, the leak of game files, and the mysterious creature seen in-game, have players excited for the next update, which will come in the form of a Bloodhound Town Takeover. It is possible that a new location will be added, and it could be the desert land mentioned in the Prowler game files.
Apex Legends is free-to-play on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
