Summary

  • According to a leak, Respawn Entertainment is set to introduce a new Legend, Belva, in Apex Legends for the upcoming season.
  • Belva's kit appears to include archery, scanning, and stunning abilities, sparking mixed opinions from fans.
  • While some fans criticize Belva's potential design, most are excited about a new playable character.

Apex Legends' next hero, Belva, has seemingly been leaked. The game already features a roster of 26 characters, with heroes like Ash, Wraith, and Alter among the most popular based on pick rates. However, fans have been demanding more playable characters, claiming that the metagame has started to feel a bit dull. Now, it appears that Respawn Entertainment, Apex Legends' developer, is set to expand the roster by introducing another combatant with the game's upcoming season.

The last time Apex Legends added a new hero was during Season 21 with the introduction of Alter. Despite a rocky start, the character is now one of the most popular picks. However, over the following year, fans did not see any new characters, which became a point of criticism. It seems the developer has taken note, as new leaks suggest it has been preparing a big surprise for fans eager to play as a new Legend.

Ubisoft Reportedly Working on New Game Like Apex Legends

New reports emerge indicating that Ubisoft is currently developing an original new multiplayer game that is similar to Apex Legends.

Respawn Entertainment had already begun teasing its new character, revealing he's called "Belva," with an official announcement planned for Apex Legends' Prodigy Season on April 28. However, a leaker known for Titanfall 3 leaks, Osvaldatore, posted the entire Season 25 trailer on Twitter. Based on the leaked Prodigy Anthem video, Belva will have an archery-focused kit complemented by scanning and stunning abilities. Leakers also claim he's an Italian nicknamed Sparrow, with his real name being Giuseppe Belva.

Apex Legends' Next Hero Is Seemingly Called Belva

Some fans are already criticizing Belva's design for a lack of creativity. Some argue he might be too similar to Apex Legends' Mirage, while others dislike his style, calling it overly feminine for a male character. It's worth noting that the Legend's initial drip-marketing made it clear Belva would have some “swagger,” possibly hinting at a fashionista-esque personality. Regardless, most fans seem excited about getting a new playable character after almost a year.

Whether Belva and Season 25's new content can help save EA and Respawn Entertainment's hero shooter remains up for debate. Apex Legends has already failed to expand the game as previously promised by EA's CEO. Back in 2024, Andrew Wilson reassured fans that the next phase would focus on expanding beyond the traditional battle royale universe. However, that never translated into significant gameplay changes beyond a few new game modes. What's clear is that the game is struggling to maintain its player base. Some critics even argue that with a strong competitor like Marvel Rivals, Apex Legends might need to offer more than just new characters like Belva. However, it remains to be seen how the upcoming seasonal update will impact the game and its community.
