Forest trees in Anno 117: Pax Romana are a crucial natural resource that players will always use. When they begin their journey, governors will always start by placing a Woodcutter building and a Sawmill to produce Timber. Then, Timber will be turned into houses and other core city buildings. However, players may notice that there are not enough trees for these buildings to perform well. For that, here's what you need to know about planting trees in Anno 117: Pax Romana.
How To Enter First Person Mode In Anno 117 Pax Romana
Players can explore the city they built by entering the third or first person mode in Anno 117: Pax Romana.
How To Plant Trees In Anno 117 Pax Romana
Players will need trees for buildings such as Woodcutter or Charcoal Burner. If players build on a forest, removing the building will restore the trees. This means that if you accidentally remove some forest or would like your trees back, you can simply remove buildings that destroy the trees. Moving buildings will also do the trick.
If there aren't enough trees in the area, then you can conduct research that lets these buildings plant their own trees.
It's fine to have around 90% production effectiveness if you can't help it.
When you place buildings that need trees, you can see the area-of-effect (AoE) of that building, indicating which forest is considered for its work. To prevent accidental building on this AoE, it's best to create a "border" by placing roads manually around the circle. Of course, as previously mentioned, even if you do make a mistake, you can always remove the building that destroyed the forest, and the trees will return.
Research For Planting Trees In Anno 117 Pax Romana
There are various research you can do in Anno 117: Pax Romana that helps plant trees. Woodland Rebirth allows Woodcutter buildings to plant trees. Replanting enables tree restoration from Charcoal Burners, and Untapped Soil enables Resin tappers to plant trees in Anno 117: Pax Romana.
If you plant trees using this research, you can remove the building and place another one to benefit from the newly planted trees. For example, after researching Untapped Soil, you can build a Resin Tapper on a meadow, and trees will sprout around it. These trees will remain planted even if you remove the Resin Tapper building. This allows you to place other buildings, like the Woodcutter, to benefit from the planted trees.
Some research also enables buildings to benefit from forests, like Honeyed Arbour, which allows Apiaries to be built around forests instead of just meadows.
Forest Trees VS Ornamental Trees
Although you can plant trees using the Ornament menu, note that these trees are decorations and don't count as forest trees. Although you can't use them to provide for forestry buildings, ornaments are still useful to increase Prestige in Anno 117: Pax Romana, so don't ignore them completely.
