  • Animal Crossing player shares hairless redesigns of villagers from New Horizons.
  • Some fans find the hairless avatars cute, while others find them odd or "cursed."
  • Animal Crossing: New Horizons remains one of the most popular Nintendo Switch games.

An Animal Crossing player has shared an interesting take on certain characters from the game, creating a look that ditches the hair on their head. The artist came up with these modified designs for the villagers based on their appearance in the latest Animal Crossing game, Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

There are over 400 distinct villagers available in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, ranging from a pig-based character named Peggy to a vegetable-based character called Broccolo. Over the years, the villagers have become very popular among the players, leading to a flurry of fan-made creations that sometimes experiment with the looks of these characters. Previously, a player shared custom Baldur's Gate 3-inspired avatars of some Animal Crossing villagers, and now another fan has revealed their own reimagining of some well-known characters.

In a post that's going viral on Reddit, user Ok_Clerk7021 shared their fan art that depicts a bunch of Animal Crossing villagers without their hair. The redesigned characters include Peggy, Broccolo, Gloria, Bree, Monique, Hazel, Lottie, Bonbon, and Maelle. While certain villagers like Broccolo and Bree seem alright without hair, others like Gloria and Maelle appear rather odd. Interestingly, removing the hair from some of these anthromorphic characters makes them seem more like animals again. Moreover, the author revealed that the idea for the post stemmed from another player's request on one of their other fan art posts for the Stardew Valley-like game. The author added that the redesigns were done "just for fun" and do not reflect any dissatisfaction with the original designs.

Animal Crossing Player Shares Their Hairless Redesign of Villagers

As expected, the unusual redesign of the Animal Crossing villagers, which could appear cute or cursed, drew a lot of traction on Reddit. Some users liked the hairless avatars, whereas some others hinted at their uneasiness. A user commented, "This is oddly cursed." Another stated, "Most of these actually look better." Few users noted that, among all the characters, Lottie looked the most out of place with her hair removed.

Meanwhile, Animal Crossing: New Horizons continues to be one of the most popular Nintendo Switch titles out there. In fact, since its launch in 2020, the social sim has gone on to take second place among the top-selling games on Switch. In addition to that, New Horizons is also the best-selling game in the history of the franchise. Given its record-breaking success, fans can rest assured that the Japanese developer will bank on the IP again and may announce another Animal Crossing game sooner rather than later.
