An Animal Crossing and Pokemon fan has recreated many of the series' cat Pokemon as Animal Crossing villagers. Fans of both Animal Crossing and Pokemon are excitedly sharing their thoughts on the concepts, with many wishing they could officially invite these villagers to come live in their towns.
As popular Nintendo games, Pokemon and Animal Crossing often go hand-in-hand. While Pokemon has largely outsold Animal Crossing in the west since the two series' inceptions, Animal Crossing: New Horizons took the world by storm, becoming a massive hit for the company. With the Nintendo Switch offering multiple Pokemon games and Animal Crossing's biggest release to date, it's no wonder that fans have thought to combine the two.
Now, artist and Nintendo fan sleepytoadst00l has shared their recreation of some iconic cat Pokemon as they could look as Animal Crossing villagers. Mew, Skitty, Purrloin, Meowth, Alolan Persian, Glameow, Litten, Sprigatito, Meowstic, and Zeraora have been turned into Animal Crossing characters, complete with cute outfits, personality types, and catchphrases. Some of the Pokemon's outfits take their typing into account, like Litten's blazey shirt or Sprigatito's flowery dress, while others are more based on their personalities, like Meowth's "GOLD" shirt.
Pokemon and Animal Crossing Deserve a Crossover
Fans in the comments have been quick to shower sleepytoadst00l with praise for their delightful creations. Outside of picking favorites, numerous fans have been quick to suggest that these ought to be real, as many would love to see their favorite cat Pokemon live in their Animal Crossing towns or islands.
Whether a crossover could happen in the future is unknown. Animal Crossing has had a few minor Pokemon references in the past, mainly with the original title for GameCube. However, it's had more involved crossovers, similar to what fans are asking for, in the past. Splatoon crossed over with Animal Crossing: New Leaf in the form of unique villagers that could join a town if the Splatoon Callie, Marie, or Inkling amiibo were scanned into the game. Animal Crossing and Splatoon notably share a development team, so a crossover for the two series seems more likely to happen than one with Pokemon. However, it's never out of the question for a future entry. While a crossover would likely be similar to the prior New Leaf/Splatoon one, with villagers "cosplaying" or dressed up as specific Pokemon, it might still fulfill what players are looking for.
