As one of the most popular games in Nintendo’s portfolio, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is always inspiring a bunch of awesome fan creations. Some players show their reverence for the game inside the game itself, creating amazing islands for other gamers to visit. One Animal Crossing player even turned their favorite plush into an adorable villager, ensuring a part of their real-life was always present in-game. There's no right or wrong way to do fan art, and it's just great to see Animal Crossing continuing to inspire gamers in this way.

16 Best Animal Crossing Villagers, Ranked

There are many villagers that players can encounter in the Animal Crossing series, and these are the best ones to have as neighbors.

Redditor Frenchpixelle shared their awesome design with the Animal Crossing community online, showing off what an island could look like in-game if it were using a pixel art style. The attention to detail here is great, and it even includes Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Nook's Cranny and Able Sisters to give it a feeling of authenticity. Certainly, if ever a pixel art version of Animal Crossing was development, it would not look too dissimilar to this. The only thing it's missing is some of the popular NPCs and islanders found throughout the game.

Animal Crossing Redesigned As Pixel Art

Animal Crossing in a pixel art style is not as far-fetched as some might think. Looking at the list of games to play for gamers who like Animal Crossing, there are definitely a few pixel art titles in the mix. While Nintendo is unlikely to take the pixel art route for the Animal Crossing series any time soon, games like Stardew Valley certainly fill that void for the time being.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons launched in 2020, to enormous success. At that point, it had been eight years since a new mainline title in the series, resulting in a huge desire for a new release. As of now, there has been no news of a new upcoming title, although the success of the previous release means it’s a near-certainty. Interestingly, a rumored Animal Crossing leak suggests that a new title is on the way in 2026, for the successor to the Nintendo Switch. Nothing is official at the moment, but it certainly seems a plausible timeline given the series' history.
