The Animal Crossing: New Horizons Summer Update - Wave 1 is available now, adding a slew of new content for fans of the popular life simulation game to check out. This includes a new encounter with Pirate Gulliver, a slightly different take on the shipwrecked bird that players have been finding washed up on their shores since launch.

Pirate Gulliver appears in Animal Crossing: New Horizons just like the original version of the character did. Players have the chance to find Pirate Gulliver on their beaches randomly each week, at which point they will need to talk to him multiple times to get him to wake up. After Gulliver is finally awake, he will give players the task of finding his missing communicator parts. Just like before, Gulliver's communicator parts are buried in the sand, and players need to use a shovel to dig them up.

The day after helping Pirate Gulliver out, he will send Animal Crossing: New Horizons players a random pirate-themed item through the mail. There's 28 rewards that Animal Crossing: New Horizons players can get from Pirate Gulliver, and they will presumably only be available for a limited time. Once the summer months are over, it's quite possible that the original version of Gulliver will return to the game instead.

Here is a list of the Pirate Gulliver rewards players can get in New Horizons:

  • Black Pirate Bandanna
  • Black Pirate Coat
  • Black Pirate Dress
  • Black Pirate Overalls
  • Blue Pirate Bandana
  • Blue Pirate Coat
  • Blue Pirate Dress
  • Blue Pirate Overalls
  • Long Treasure Coat
  • Pirate Barrel
  • Pirate Beard
  • Pirate Boots
  • Pirate Cannon
  • Pirate Captain's Hat

  • Pirate Treasure
  • Pirate Treasure Crown
  • Pirate Wall
  • Red Pirate Bandanna

  • Red Pirate Dress
  • Red Pirate Overalls

Pirate Gulliver isn't the only new encounter in Animal Crossing: New Horizons after Summer Update - Wave 1. Players will also notice a sea otter named Pascal from time to time, who is willing to trade scallops for special Mermaid-themed DIY recipes. Animal Crossing: New Horizons players will need to swim and dive to collect scallops from the ocean floor, so they'll want to purchase a wetsuit from Nook's Cranny as soon as possible.

In future, it's possible even more new characters will be added to Animal Crossing: New Horizons as visitors. We know that Summer Update - Wave 2 is coming in August, so maybe they will debut as early as next month.

And if not, there should be plenty more Animal Crossing: New Horizons updates on the way. It's likely that Animal Crossing: New Horizons will get holiday updates at the very least, so fans should stay tuned for more information.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out now, exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
