Animal Crossing: New Horizons

For those players living in the northern hemisphere, Fall is here in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. What this means for players is new critters to catch in September and some fun fall-themed events, but also the introduction of Pine Cones. With these Pine Cones, players will be able to craft cute seasonal recipes, but they aren't always the easiest to find unfortunately.

For some reason, the game doesn't do a great job of explaining to players how to get the Pine Cones required for many of the new seasonal recipes. Players may stumble across them, but probably won't know how to reliably get more without doing some research themselves.

The short answer is that Pine Cones can be found by shaking cedar trees around the player's island, but there are some things to keep in mind. Unlike fruit from Animal Crossing: New Horizons's fruit trees, Pine Cones won't be visible on a tree before shaking it, so players have no way of knowing whether or not a tree actually has a Pine Cone on it. The best thing to do when searching for Pine Cones is to identify a cedar tree and then shake every matching tree on the island. This should net the player a decent amount of Pine Cones to craft fun Fall decorations with.

With these Pine Cones players will be able to craft seasonal recipes, but they will also need other materials like clumps of weeds and tree branches. Some notable recipes include the Pile of Leaves, crafted with 3 Pine Cones and 5 Clumps of Weeds, the Leaf Campfire, which requires 3 Pine Cones, 5 Clumps of Weeds, and 3 Tree Branches, and the Pine Bonsai Tree that players can make with 8 Pine Cones and 5 Clay. Other recipes require the new seasonal acorn item, including the Tree's Bounty Little Tree that requires 6 Pine Cones, 4 Acorns, and 1 Hardwood, and the Tree's Bounty Mobile, crafted with 2 Pine Cones, 3 Acorns, and 3 Tree Branches.

These new recipes will certainly help players get into the spirit of Fall by decorating their island in a myriad of bright colors, and are only the beginning of the new additions coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons in the coming months. Fall enthusiasts would do well to keep an eye on New Horizons for the time being.
