Following the steps of Kentucky Fried Chicken's cross-promotional efforts with Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which saw KFC open an in-game restaurant, McDonald's has now released a range of in-game cosmetic items. The Golden Arches has released a series of officially licensed QR codes that allow gamers to dress their villagers in McDonald's themed apparel, no matter how annoying they may be. Options range from more basic logos to several food-based attires.
Animal Crossing: New Horizon fans can choose from a red t-shirt with the Happy Meal yellow smile adorned across its chest to a light blue shirt that sports a McDonald's logo amidst a vanilla ice cream cone pattern. For the bolder player, there is also the choice of a shirt featuring a giant, zoomed-in version of McDonald's Big Mac, boasting two beef patties, lettuce, cheese, buns and a little of McDonald's Big Mac sauce.
Additionally, if the Big Mac shirt is a preferred choice, there is also the option to accessorize with an accompanying Sesame Seed hat, which features a little red McDonald's logo. Lastly, there is a white shirt featuring McDonald's famous red box filled to the brim with french fries.
For any New Horizons players interested in grabbing these tie-in options, they will need to link their smartphone to their in-game NookPhone. This connection will permit gamers to scan McDonald's QR codes and transfer them to your villager's NookPhone. It's worth noting that players will also need a Nintendo Switch Online account to successfully transfer the QR codes into their game.
Animal Cross: New Horizons is available now on Nintendo Switch.
