There are only a handful of days left in April, which means that a number of fish are about to become temporarily unavailable in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. More specifically, in the Northern Hemisphere there will be three ACNH  fish leaving at the end of April, and in the Southern Hemisphere there will be 10 taking their leave. For those players that want to make sure that they have caught all of the fish that are leaving in May, this guide looks to provide assistance.

To cut to the chase, here are lists of the fish that are leaving Animal Crossing: New Horizons  after April with details on where each of them can be found:

Of the Animal Crossing: New Horizons  fish leaving the Northern Hemisphere this month, the Blue Marlin and the Tuna are the two that players are most likely not to have caught before. Indeed, both of these fish are somewhat rare, and they can only be caught from the pier. This means that players hunting for these fish will need to stock up on ACNH's fish bait and exercise a bit of patience.

There are also some pier-only fish leaving the Southern Hemisphere in May in the Giant Trevally and Mahi-Mahi, but the Snapping Turtle may indeed be the most elusive of the bunch. Spawning only between the hours of 9pm and 4am means that fans that do not typically play at night are unlikely to have caught Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Snapping Turtle before, and they will need to carve out some time if they want to procure one before it leaves at the end of April.

Alongside the fish leaving ACNH  after April, there will be eight new fish appearing in the Northern Hemisphere and five new fish appearing in the Southern Hemisphere. Certainly, these are not insignificant numbers, and players will need to find some time amidst the various Animal Crossing: New Horizons May events if they hope to catch the rarest of these new fish.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now for the Nintendo Switch.
