It has been over two months since the release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons and players of all ages have been enjoying the island getaway from the seemingly never-ending disasters in the real world. There are so many things to do and so many ways to play on the way to a five-star island that it seems like there’s endless potential, even (and sometimes especially) for those who bust out their time machines.

However, a shining trait of Animal Crossing is in getting players invested in the lives and livelihoods of their favorite villagers and visitors. One such visitor is the turnip saleswoman Daisy Mae, granddaughter of ol’ Sow Joan from previous titles. Now, being a new character, there’s honestly not much information about who Daisy Mae is as a character. This list will pose some questions that need answers.

10 Where Does Daisy Mae Live?

Daisy Mae In Airport

In previous Animal Crossing titles, like New Leaf, Joan could be found living out of an RV on Sundays that she visits. However, the nature of the sheer volume of turnips leads one to believe that there’s clearly a massive farm growing all varieties of turnips.

Does Daisy Mae live with her grandma as a caretaker, since Sow Joan has grown weak in her twilight years? Perhaps Daisy Mae lives in the New Leaf city or some other Animal Crossing location.

9 What Is Her Purpose In The Family Business?

Daisy Mae Talking About Her Job

There is one thing obviously known about Daisy Mae: her job. Every Sunday she visits the island to get villagers engaged in the speculative stalk market, now called the Sow Joan’s Stalk Market. But, aside from simply selling the turnips, what else does Daisy Mae do exactly?

Her Gram-Gram is still growing the turnips, so perhaps Daisy Mae helps her on the farm, but what other parts of the business does Daisy Mae manage? Hopefully, this will be explained in future iterations of the character.

8 Who (and Where) Are Her Parents?

Daisy Mae Brand Name

Familial relationships are important to the various villagers and visitors in Animal Crossing. This can be seen with, for example, the Able Sisters or Tom Nook and his Nookling nephews. Daisy Mae talks frequently and clearly loves her grandmother as well, so family matters to her.

Which leaves the questions: who are her parents? They have to exist in some form, living or not, yet they go unmentioned by Daisy Mae. Perhaps they’ll appear in later additions to the game.

7 Why Does She Enjoy Eating Turnips?

Daisy Mae Turnips Turnips

Turnips, despite being one of the biggest money-makers in Animal Crossing, are also able to be eaten by the villager and, presumably, others. Some villagers in the past have mentioned that turnips just aren’t very tasty and that their value has evolved beyond being food for whatever reason.

Which begs the question: why does Daisy Mae enjoy eating them? It’s mentioned both in-game and in the companion guide that Daisy Mae eats the turnips, so she must like the taste. But why? Maybe she’ll elaborate in a future update.

6 Does She Have Connections To Other Villagers?

Daisy Mae and Scoot

Daisy Mae is mentioned by the other villagers on your island, so presumably, they have conversations. Lazy villagers even act surprised that she shows up every week. However, does she have prior relations to any of these villagers?

Does she develop friendships with them? Considering her and her grandmother are the only canonical boar villagers (not pigs), there’d be no familial relationships. Maybe she’d get along well as a foil to a peppy villager, like the best of them all: Peanut.

5 Does She Have Connections To Other Visitors?

Daisy Mae and Zipper

Daisy Mae, obviously, isn’t the only visitor from (presumably) the mainland. There is a whole collection of visitors that come to the island for a number of reasons, from scamming the villager to selling exclusively ugly pairs of shoes. And these visitors are mostly returning from previous titles in the franchise.

With that in mind, is it possible that Daisy Mae would have contact with these other visitors? Has she also been scammed by Redd? Does she know the true identity of Zipper T. Bunny? Only Daisy Mae can answer those questions.

4 Just How Many Celebrities Has Daisy Mae Met?

Daisy Mae and Celebrities

When looking at Twitter, it's clear that a lot of famous people have also been enjoying Animal Crossing like the rest of us. And they would also be interested in the speculative turnip market like Elijah Wood was when he visited the island of a fan.

Following that train of logic, Daisy Mae has likely met these celebrities who are all engaging in the Stalk Market. Just how many celebrities have Daisy Mae shaken the hands of? And would she ask for any autographs? Considering the celebrities aren’t canon, probably not.

3 Why Was She Not Invited To The Amiibo Festival?

Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival Joke

The Animal Crossing timeline, based on Joan’s recent retirement of sorts, indicates that Daisy Mae has been alive and well for some time now and has likely been helping in the past, but in the shadows. The last installment, aside from Pocket Camp, was Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival, where Joan makes an appearance to sell turnips to the characters moving around the board.

Considering just how important Joan is to the economy, it’s a wonder why her granddaughter Daisy Mae wasn’t also invited to the famous, world-renown Amiibo Festival.

2 Will She Convince Her Grandmother To Visit The Island?

Daisy Mae Town Evaluation

Daisy Mae is certainly delightful. However, for long-time Animal Crossing fans, a Sunday without Sow Joan isn’t really a Sunday at all. And Daisy Mae mentions in her island evaluation that she wishes she could bring Joan to the island but can’t because of Joan’s weak knees.

If Gram-Gram starts feeling better, will villagers be able to reconnect with the beloved turnip saleswoman? This is something Nintendo should certainly consider adding as a treat for fans.

1 Is Daisy Mae The Invisible Hand In The Stalk Market?

Daisy Mae Selling Turnips

Many villagers have pondered the question of where exactly turnips get their value. They have bizarre properties: they rot after a week of real-time and are vulnerable to temporal anomalies. Perhaps there are other mystical capabilities to the turnip that aren’t understood.

Consider, however, that an external force is influencing their value. Just who or what could be the influential factor in the Stalk Market? The answer Mae shock you.
