- The RX 7800 XT is a 2.5-slot card that competes with Nvidia's RTX 4070, offering great value for $100 less.
- The RX 7700 XT is meant to compete with the RTX 4060 Ti, but its $449 price tag seems high compared to Nvidia's offerings.
AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT graphics cards are now available for purchase. The two cards are the latest entry in the Radeon 7000 series, and they sit somewhere in the massive gap left between the entry-level Radeon RX 7600 and the top-tier Radeon RX 7900 XT/XTX. The company unveiled the two graphics cards late last month, and they have now been listed on retailer websites. Those who purchase either of the two cards, as well as other eligible AMD GPUs and CPUs, will get a free copy of Starfield.
Late last year, AMD showcased its Radeon RX 7000 series of GPUs. At the time, two GPUs were brought to the public: RX 7900 XT and RX 7900 XTX. A few months into this year, the company released the RX 7600 as an entry-level budget-friendly offering. Fans of Team Red have been eagerly waiting for more mid-range offerings. Finally, last month, the company launched the Radeon RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT graphics cards and said they would go on sale starting September 6.
The AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT carries 60 compute units, 60 ray accelerators, a base clock speed of 2124 MHz, and a boost clock speed of 2430 MHz. It has 16GB of VRAM on a 256-bit memory bus with speeds up to 19.5 Gbps, and a TBP of 263W. The Radeon 7800 XT is a 2.5-slot card that targets 1440p gaming and is meant to compete with Nvidia’s RTX 4070. Early benchmarks have shown that the Radeon 7800 XT presents great value as it performs just as well (better in some cases) as its competition for $100 cheaper.

The XFX Speedster MERC319 RX 7800 XT Black is a mid-tier offering in the Radeon 7000 series of graphics cards. It features a base clock speed of 1624 MHz and a boost clock speed of 2565 MHz. It has 16GB of VRAM on a 256-bit memory bus with speeds up to 19.5 Gbps.
Targeting 1440p gaming, the XFX Speedster MERC319 RX 7800 XT Black has a triple-fan cooler design and AMD recommends at least a 700W PSU with this card.
As announced by AMD, the RX 7800 will be available via board partners as well as with AMD’s Made By AMD (MBA) cooler design. Team Red fans can grab the card from AMD’s website as well.
The AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT comes with 54 compute units, 54 ray accelerators, 2171 MHz base clock speed, and 2544 MHz boost clock speed. In terms of VRAM, it comes with 12GB GDDR6 on a 192-bit memory bus and speeds of up to 18 Gbps. Notably, the card is meant to compete with the RTX 4060 Ti which has 8GB and 16GB VRAM models. While it can outperform the RTX 4060 Ti, AMD was unable to undercut Nvidia with its pricing. The $449 price tag for the RX 7700 XT seems a bit high considering the RTX 4060 Ti starts at $399 for the 8GB model and $499 (cheaper for some board partner cards) for the 16GB model.
