Amanda the Adventurer is an indie game published by DreadXP. This spooky little game is fairly short, but players can get a lot of mileage out of it since there are some secrets, lots of lore, and it even has five different endings. In order to get each of these endings, players will need to scour every inch of the attic they are locked in for the entire game. But some of the puzzles aren't very easy to complete alone, and some may need a hint to get every single ending this creepy story has to offer them.
The Five Endings of Amanda the Adventurer
Players of this indie game can unlock a grand total of five endings for this game. Each ending is shown a sticker on the TV; if players don't see five stickers on the TV, they have not collected every ending possible. The five endings are:
- A Gruesome End
- A Fateful End
- A Hollow End
- The End
- The End?
A Gruesome End in Amanda the Adventurer
The easiest of the endings in this horror game suitable for older kids is the bad ending, called A Gruesome End. In order to get this ending, players will need to follow along with the tapes, solving the puzzles as they are presented without deviation. Here are the steps for completing the game with this ending:
- Watch the Kitchen Tape in this cheap horror video game.
- Cook an apple pie by putting the apple in the tin, then putting it into the oven. Set the oven to 425 degrees for 40 minutes, as directed in the video.
- Watch the Neighborhood Tape.
- Solve the piano riddle with the highlighted letters in the video: CBF.
- Get the Accident Tape out of the piano, and play it on the VCR. Take note of the three times in the video.
- Solve the Clock Puzzle with the three times in the video: 10:50PM for the digital clock, 6:20 for the wall clock, and 3:45 for the clock on the table. All the clocks will automatically change to 5:15PM.
- Go to the corkboard and take the grandfather clock's missing hand. Put it back on the grandfather clock, then set it to 5:15.
- The last tape is inside, along with the code for the safe.
- Watch this tape; no matter what the answers they pick, players will get A Gruesome End.
There is a second way to get this ending; if players get all the way to the Family Tape and refuse to help the kitten that is all alone, this ending will also be triggered.
A Fateful End in Amanda the Adventurer
The second of the five multiple endings to the game players can get is the Fateful Ending. This strange ending has a few more steps than A Gruesome End, so players may get a little stuck trying to get to it. The key lies in opening the safe and utilizing the pause button inside.
- In A Gruesome End in this game's haunted house, players will get the safe code inside the grandfather clock; it's 826.
- Hit Continue on the main menu.
- Open the safe and pull out the paper and the pause button.
- Attach the pause button to the TV.
- Place the paper on the corkboard by the TV.
- Play the Kitchen Tape, but pause immediately after the answer KNIFE.
- On the fridge will be an arrow pointing to the oven set at a specific temperature: 525.
- Walk over to the oven and turn it to 525 degrees. This will change what is displayed on the TV. Finish watching the tape.
- A recipe card will spawn next to the oven, giving players directions to make a meat pie.
- Take the cheese and head to the other side of the room; to the left of the trap door is a mousetrap. Put the cheese in the mousetrap, then turn around. When the rat is caught, pick it up and put it in the pie tin.
- Pick a mushroom off of the wall to the right of the TV, and place it in the pie tin as well.
- Next, players need to complete this PC video game's puzzle of the meat pie. Head over to the bookshelf with all the potted plants on it. The paper found in the safe indicated that there is a potato plant among them, and it will have a moon symbol on it. Find the moon pot, then place it in the puddle of water to the right of the TV. Wait until a potato has grown, then place the potted plant in the pie tin with the other items.
- Set the oven to 525 degrees for 50 minutes. Place the pie tin with the rat, potato plant, and mushroom inside the oven. Close the door. A video will appear inside.
- Watch this video. When it is done, a coloring book will be on the table.
- Click the 24/7 shop, the candy shop, then the butcher shop. The page will flip, but players will need to select the same three shops in the same order again. The third page will be abstractions of the signs above each of the stores; choose the 24/7 store, the candy store, and the butchers once again. This will give players the key code to the toolbox: GUTS.
- Take the Family Tape from the toolbox, and watch it.
- When Amanda asks about helping the kitten, say "yes." Saying no will trigger A Gruesome End again.
- Play out the rest of the video, then look at the trap door. Walk over to it and see A Fateful End in this short indie game.
A Hollow End in Amanda the Adventurer
The third ending is A Hollow End. Players will need to do many of the steps from the second ending, with a few key changes.
- Hit continue from A Fateful End.
- Open the toolbox with the GUTS code.
- Take out the scissors.
- Use the scissors on the doll, then take the batteries out of the doll's neck.
- There is a little robot near the piano; go around its back, open the back panel, and put the batteries inside. This will turn to robot on.
- This is the Blabbot; it will have several codes throughout Amanda the Adventurer.
- Watch the Cooking Tape, and then make an apple pie.
- Watch the Neighborhood Tape, then pause on the screen where Amanda and Wooly are standing in front of the displays of greeting cards.
- Above the greeting cards is a sign for how much a Blabbot costs. While the video is still paused on this screen, type the cost into the Blabbot. It's 150325. Press the green check mark on the robot after typing in the code. It will say something about condolences to Kate.
- Watch the rest of the tape.
- There will be a birthday card on the table; pick up the birthday card next to it. It contains the next code for the Blabbot.
- It's 081821. Type this into the Blabbot, and it will direct players to cook at 325 degrees for 30 minutes.
- Set the time and temperature of the oven to match the bot's instructions.
- There will be a candle and a card inside the oven. Place the candle on the cake, then open the card.
- Replace all the pictures of candles inside the card with the number of candles now on the cake: 2. This will make the next code for Blabbot, which makes 835161.
- Type this into the robot, and it will give players a series of notes to play Happy Birthday on the piano: CCDCFE.
- This will open up the piano where another candle is waiting in this almost Roguelight horror game.
- Put it on the cake; it will melt and give players the next tape.
- Play the tape all the way through, then look at the table for the next tape.
- Play that tape as well; it will ask the player: "How many chairs? How many mushrooms? How many fruits? How many lights?" This makes the four-digit code for the armoire: 2862.
- Open the lock on the armoire, and then play the tape inside. It will give players a new code: 401258.
- Put this into the bot; it will tell players that what matters is on the inside.
- Grab the bucket from inside the armoire to fill it with water from the dripping puddle in the corner by the TV. Throw the water onto the robot, and its head will pop off. There is a key inside; use it to open the chest under the window at the other end of the room.
- Watch the tape inside.
- When Amanda asks if she can share a secret, tell her "no."
- Walk away from the TV and out the trap door to complete this ending in this simple but engaging video game.
The End in Amanda the Adventurer
The End is basically the same as the A Hollow End ending with one key detail changed: when Amanda asks if she can share her secret with the player, make sure to say "yes" all three times. This will trigger The End ending as long as players don't have all five secret tapes.
The End? In Amanda the Adventurer
The final ending in Amanda the Adventurer is The End? Players need to complete all the same steps as The End but have all five secret tapes unlocked. These are found all along the journey to complete the game.
- Orange Tape: In the Kitchen Video, instead of making an apple pie, make a peach pie with the peach that is hidden to the left of where the oven usually sits, on the shelf behind some boxes.
- Turquoise Tape: In the butcher video, pause when Amanda is in front of the card displays; there is a series of musical notes over her head, spelling the word FACADE. Play them on the piano.
- Red Tape: On the right side of the window, look for a plant pot on the floor near the wall. Grow it with the dripping water, then give it to the doll.
- Green Tape: In the Family Video, when Amanda asks about the name of the father chicken, answer SAM. Then look at the floor by the table.
- Purple Tape: In the Injury Video, when Amanda asks who can help, type in NOBODY. Pause the video; the tape will be on the floor by the table.
After all five secret videos have been collected, complete the same steps for The End, and it will look a little different this time.
Amanda the Adventurer is available for PC.
