Summary
- Amado seeks to revive his daughter in an Otsutsuki body, raising suspicions about his true motives in the series.
- Amado's manipulation of Kara members with Otsutsuki DNA opens up questions about his knowledge and role in a grander scheme.
- The dissolution of Kara coinciding with the awakening of Kama users implies an orchestrated plan involving Amado and Otsutsuki threats.
Amado Sanzu has become one of the most pivotal Boruto side characters for his valuable knowledge… not just into the inner workings of Kara, but insights into the Kama and a much-needed glimpse into the mysteries of the Otsutsuki. Although he states that much of his knowledge was something shared by Isshiki, others speculate Amado is hiding a more ulterior motive than what he’s actually telling fans.
Boruto: Kishimoto Confirms Sarada Uchiha And Boruto Uzumaki's Romance
Kishimoto confirms the romance between Boruto and Sarada. Their relationship will grow more throughout the series.
In the recent chapters of Two Blue Vortex, Amado reveals his endgame: he wants to “truly” revive his daughter - revealed to be the basis of Delta’s appearance and memories - even in an Otsutsuki body. However, the scope of Amado’s knowledge and the extent through which he’s willing to manipulate others to survive implies there’s more to him than meets the eye. After all, aside from Kashin Koji indeed trying to kill Jigen as intended and Momoshiki verifying that Amado’s statements about Shinjutsu are true, no one but Amado could affirm his claims. So what other mysteries are surrounding Amado’s existence?
The Timeline Inconsistency Leaves A Gaping Plot Hole
A Precursor To An Alien Race Coincidentally In Modern Times?
Unlike the Akatsuki, the Kara has become quite the formidable opponent thanks to its members possessing Shinobiware - biological versions of Scientific Ninja Tools. And for their Inner members, Amado is more than proud to state that their “special” abilities are courtesy of Otsutsuki DNA - specifically that of Shibai Otsutsuki, considered a god even among the god-like Otsutsuki.
As per Amado’s explanation, his discovery of Shibai’s remains allowed him to extract enough genetic material to modify Kara Inners with some of Shibai Otsutsuki’s mythical Shinjutsu. However, this does open the floodgates to big questions:
- Shibai Otsutsuki, who seemingly “ascended,” just happened to choose this world to leave his body?
- It just so happened that Amado “found” the body of this mythical being and knew how to process his genetic material?
- Amado managed to implant mythical powers to seemingly ordinary humans, when even Isshiki (and supposedly Amado himself) also faced considerable difficulty replicating the Kara?
And for fans who managed to discover these questions right off the bat, it’s easy to assume that either Amado is hiding more than he let on or he’s just a mere part of another grander puzzle himself.
Do Things Really Happen Because Of Coincidences?
Amado Might Become A Red Herring
However, fans who look at Kara’s eventual dissolution from a big picture perspective can see it as rather quite convenient. After all, Kara’s dissolution just happened to coincide with:
- The awakening of three Kama users (Boruto, Kawaki, and Code),
- All Otsutsuki threats either becoming inactive (Momoshiki) or dead (Isshiki), and
- The Kara remnants still alive just so happened to be more concerned about their survival (Ada), loyal to a family figure (Daemon), and an Otsutsuki fanatic (Code)?
Even with inconveniences like Momoshiki helping Boruto at the expense of turning him into an Otsutsuki, Kawaki being allied with Konoha, and Code creating the Human God Trees, the world of Boruto has conveniently become Otsutsuki territory. The only wildcard left is Amado - seemingly too intelligent for a human and technically only relevant to more powerful Otsutsuki due to his knowledge on Shibai.

Uncanny Survival Instincts Are No Joke
Things Oddly Worked In His Favor
One can dismiss Amado’s survival in Two Blue Vortex as earned through his wit and cunning. He did, after all, manage to rope Naruto and Shikamaru into accepting his request for asylum in Part 1 by establishing his advanced Otsutsuki knowledge. And yet, only Amado seems relatively unscathed with the fate that befell everyone who made contact with Kara and Isshiki Otsutsuki. This situation has become rather too convenient for Amado.
Even if times change... The soul of a Shinobi remains the same.
Taking into account that what he knows is seemingly only known by other Otsutsuki and not “ordinary” people, Amado is becoming a more important player in the game than what readers are led to believe. Of course, while the above theories make sense from an Amado-centric perspective, it’s also possible he’s just another cog in the plot machine. At the end of the day, Amado’s endgame will vastly alter the way fans can perceive his initial tactical acumen in the series, especially with various theories of his true nature in mind:
Amado’s Access To Shibai’s Remains
Maybe His Remains Were Easy To Get After All
While theorizing in Reddit, user u/Kublai-Gun and others said there are only a few reasonable ways Amado could get access to Shibai’s remains - some of which are rather straightforward. For instance:
- Isshiki hid Shibai’s remains somewhere: The last Otsutsuki leader, Isshiki, is known for his Daikokuten that can open gateways to different dimensions. It’s not surprising for a high-powered Otsutsuki like him to be aware of the location of his distant ancestor, much more hid him in an exclusive pocket dimension. As to how Isshiki himself got access to his ancestor’s remains in the vastness of spacetime is still another question to consider.
- Amado really did stumble upon Shibai’s remains: Unlikely as it may be, perhaps Amado did somehow find an obscure monument that contained Shibai’s essence. Isshiki could have led him to it. One of the few ways this could be made possible is if Boruto’s world was the last place Shibai visited before shedding his physical body and ascending. Which is weird, because why did Shibai not just eat the planet first like with what he’s done to others? And if Shibai already visited the planet, why the need to send Isshiki and Kaguya there?
Is Amado Shibai Otsutsuki All Along?
Ascension Could Mean Easier Access To The Lower Planes
The only lore surrounding the current location of Shibai is that he’s left his earthly body to “ascend” into a new plane of existence. Nowhere does this knowledge imply that Shibai stayed where he went, and that he can’t ever revisit his previous plane of existence. As theorized in the same Reddit thread, it’s perfectly possible that Shibai might still be operating in the real world - and his “ascension” could have meant no longer needing the Kama for his incarnations. Perhaps he has possessed Amado for an endgame no one knows about.
The idea of a higher-dimensional being still operating in lower-dimensional locations isn’t new - Neo of The Matrix come back to the simulation after his awakening, while the Tri-Solarians of Three-Body Problem wage a multidimensional war against humanity. As Shibai’s Shinjutsu can manifest in wildly different abilities, there’s no reason to dismiss other bizarre abilities such as possession, reincarnation, or manipulation to orchestrate his revival - all of which have been used as Naruto plot devices before. What’s truly more horrifying is for what reason would a god-level Otsutsuki need from a mere planet like the one from Naruto’s world.
Or Amado Could Just Be Another Piece To The Puzzle
Manufactured Loyalty Could Also Mean Manufactured Goals
It’s a known distinguishing factor between the Akatsuki and Kara for the latter to have been especially modified with Shinobiware and Shibai Otsutsuki’s powers. These are all in exchange for their loyalties to Isshiki’s cause, especially for Amado’s “creations” who technically should owe their existences to him. Suppose Amado had already altered their genetic makeup with Shibai’s Shinjutsu and even pre-programmed verbal shutdown and limiter-unblocking commands (like with Kawaki). What’s there to stop him from changing his experiment’s memories and even desires?
At first glance, the mere idea that Kara’s Inners have had their memories manipulated couldn’t be any wronger, especially with how disjointed its conflicted roster can become when personal stakes enter the fray. Amado and Kashin Koji are a prime example of wanting to kill Jigen, making the forced loyalty discussion rather moot. However, going by the theory of an Amado with an entirely different endgame, he could have implanted not just false memories and motivations but also predispositions - “cues” and ticks that would make his experiments more inclined to do certain things. Or worse, Amado himself could be acting with his memories already altered: what if he was simply “nudged” to modify Kara’s Inners while ensuring he made failsafes to take care of Isshiki?
The Himawari And Jura Angles
Could The Mini-Kurama Lead To An Unexpected Revival?
In the original Naruto series, Black Zetsu pretended to work with Madara Uchiha to ensure the Infinite Tsukuyomi is enacted in the presence of the revived Ten-Tails - all in the hopes of amassing enough chakra to bear a Chakra Fruit strong enough to revive Kaguya Otsutsuki to reclaim the world as hers once again. Thanks to Naruto and Sasuke, Kaguya has been sealed and the world is saved… so far.
While Kaguya has technically been “sealed” and the Tailed Beasts more or less set free, it’s not far-fetched for Himawari’s awakening as a Jinchuriki to spark theories on a traditional Otsutsuki “revival” - especially when the Akatsuki merely needed the Tailed Beasts to summon the Ten-Tails. Such situations could involve:
- Unsavory forces could orchestrate a mistaken reunion among the Tailed Beasts to force the revival of the Ten-Tails.
- Jura could always develop the “hunger” to eat his own kind and be reawakened as a true sentient Ten-Tails.
- Jura could take Himawari’s Kurama for himself, combining his incomplete Ten-Tails essence with Kurama’s. Component and turn him into an Otsutsuki hybrid.
- What would happen if a Human God Tree eats their intended target?
With the technicalities of Ten-Tails revivals, Human God Tree dynamics, and Otsutsuki resurrections not yet truly revealed, these are just among possible outcomes.
