Despite its short life span, the Sega Dreamcast won the hearts of many players and left an indelible mark on the gaming industry. The console took pride of place inside the homes of gamers with its cutting-edge technology and impressive library that included retro classics such as Sonic Adventure, Shenmue, SoulCalibur, and a proto MMORPG called Phantasy Star Online.
The console itself was innovative for its time and the games released for it would keep players entertained even after the Dreamcast was discontinued in March 2001. However, the short life of the Dreamcast didn't prevent Sega's swansong system from leaving its mark on the gaming industry, which in turn has made it popular with collectors looking to find every North American Sega Dreamcast game.
