2XKO is a tag fighting game by Riot Games. Since it’s a 2v2 fighter, each match has you picking two champions to switch between, pulling off combos, and defending against your opponent in fast-paced combat. To secure the win, you need to take down both enemy champions in two out of three rounds, which makes having a strong lineup on your side essential. There’s already a decent roster of cool League of Legends champions available to choose from. This guide covers all the characters currently in 2XKO and explains how to unlock them, whether playing solo or teaming up as a duo.

The Best Characters to Start With in 2XKO

The best 2XKO characters to help newcomers learn the game.

Updated on January 23, 2026, by Somiya Adrees: With 2XKO now fully released on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, we’ve updated the guide with the latest details on unlocking champions and added new characters you can grab alongside your old favorite using in-game currencies from their profile banners.

How to Unlock Characters in 2XKO

Currently, there are about 12 champions in 2XKO, with more expected to join the roster later. Each hero comes with a big moveset that includes specials, supers (ultimates), unique moves, and assists. You can check out all their moves in their Champion Profile. They also have cool skins, taunts, and finishers to make things more fun.

To unlock a character in 2XKO, click on the helmet icon on the main game screen, select the locked champion of your choice, go to the unlock section, and spend one of the following materials:

  • 1 Champion Token
  • 10,000 KO Points
  • 10,000 Green Credits

KO Points are the premium currency and can only be obtained through in-game store purchases. Champion Tokens, on the other hand, are quite rare, but you can earn a few for free by completing the Play First Fight, 12 First Steps lessons, and with the arrival of new seasons.

For free-to-play players, the best way to get champions in 2XKO is by using Green Credits. You can earn them through casual matches or by completing daily, weekly, and featured missions. Daily missions are especially worth focusing on, since winning a casual match only gives about 10 Green Credits, making grinding through matches slow and painful.

Comparatively, missions let you unlock new playable heroes much faster. For example, three daily missions grant a total of 750 Green Credits per day, which means you can farm 10,000 of this currency in about 14 days. If you also finish weekly and featured challenges that grant 800 Green Credits each, you could likely unlock a champion in less than a week.

Ahri is the free character you unlock after finishing the tutorial in 2XKO. She’s a fox in a human-like form, and her specials match that theme with moves like Foxfire Blast, Wild Flares, and Spirit Rush.

Like a clever fox, she uses the Orb of Deception as her ultimate attack, with Hyper Spirit Rush and Charm as her other two supers. Her combo attacks land real heavy, and her Hyper Spirit Rush Assist deals some of the highest damage in her kit. Her Archetype is Rushdown, making her perfect for fast, aggressive play.

Blitzcrank is a locked champion. He’s a metal golem who was originally built to clean up trash, but as a fighter, he puts those mechanical powers to good use. His moves include Rocket Grab, Rocket Punch, and Spinning Turbine, making him a reliable pick for close-range brawls.

His supers are OP as well; Static Field lets him leap into the air and unleash a huge electric blast, while Trash Compactor slams enemies from above. His assist moves are great, with Static Field Assist easily being the strongest in our experience. Plus, his archetype is Grappler.

Vi is also a locked champion whose whole thing is punching enemies from all kinds of angles. Her regular moves pack a punch as well, like Vault Breaker and Denting Blows. Aside from physical attacks, she can punch the ground too, sending out Hextech energy that targets foes, like in her Hyper Crater Maker ult.

In Cease and Desist ult, she throws a complete beatdown. That said, as a side fighter, she's a recommended choice due to being a Rushdown archetype and also a heavy damage dealer.

Caitlyn - The Sheriff of Piltover

how to unlock caitlyn in 2xko Image via The Best War Games; Source: Riot Games

Lastly, we've got Caitlyn, the final champion waiting to be unlocked on the team. Much like Jinx, she uses traps and guns to take down foes. Her exclusive weapon is a rifle, which lets her land precise shots. She’s effective in both close-range and long-range combat, as her ultimates are well-balanced.

Moves like Bola Boost and Tactical Dive let her strike enemies and bounce them off the ground, while Rifle Shot and Skyward Shot hit enemies from afar. Considering her ultimate and assist attacks, Caitlyn is best paired with tanks, since she can deal massive damage from the back row, which makes her perfect for a zoner.
