A video production group is trying to make an indie movie based on the world of Remedy Entertainment's Alan Wake, and a recently released trailer for the project has stunned fans with its impressive quality. The franchise's debut entry came out in 2010, while Alan Wake 2 launched in October of last year.
Considered by many to be among Remedy Entertainment's best games, the Alan Wake titles are known for being well-written and immersive survival horror experiences. The series is centered around its titular main protagonist, a crime thriller novelist who gets entangled in dangerous and supernatural incidents. One recognizable aspect of the Alan Wake universe is its eerie atmosphere. A group of filmmakers has managed to perfectly capture this unique vibe in a trailer for its fan-made short movie inspired by Remedy Entertainment’s beloved franchise.
Alan Wake 2 Gets Anniversary Update
Alan Wake 2 is getting a free update filled with features requested by the community to celebrate the game’s first anniversary.
Rebel Monkey Production's Alan Wake Unfinished Chapter is a fan tribute to the games that follows two FBI agents as they try to investigate a string of disappearances in the rural community of Ravine, Pennsylvania. The project, which is expected to be around 10 to 15 minutes long, received plenty of attention from Alan Wake fans recently after a trailer for it was uploaded online. The teaser dropped on October 22, the same day Remedy Entertainment released The Lake House DLC for Alan Wake 2.
Alan Wake Unfinished Chapter Fan Movie
On Reddit, many praised the trailer, with one user even describing it as having blockbuster-level video production quality. The same community member said that they hoped for Alan Wake writer and Remedy Entertainment creative director Sami Jarvi, more commonly known in the industry as Sam Lake, to reach out to the film crew. Another Reddit user said the team should be hired to do an official Alan Wake TV show or movie.
According to the IndieGoGo page for Alan Wake Unfinished Chapter, the filmmakers have already invested between $5,000 and $7,000 into the project. The team, however, needs to raise more money to cover additional production costs. So far, the IndieGoGo campaign has managed to raise more than $1,600 out of its $3,000 goal. In addition to being able to see the movie as soon as post-production wraps up, backers will also receive other perks depending on their donation tier. Rebel Monkey Production expects to finish Alan Wake Unfinished Chapter within a few months after the project's fundraiser ends in November. The completed short will then have a festival run before it gets released to the public.
Remedy Entertainment is currently working on a sequel to 2019's critically acclaimed Control, as well as a first-person multiplayer shooter set in the same universe called FBC: Firebreak. The Alan Wake developer is also collaborating with Rockstar Games to create remakes of the first two Max Payne titles.
