With Alan Wake 2 expanding from its roots into true survival horror territory for the sequel, the game world has similarly evolved. Not only are almost all of its locations larger and often easier to get lost in, but there are also many new secrets and puzzles for players to find and solve. While these are not strictly necessary to complete in order to progress in Alan Wake 2, players who take the extra time to seek them out will be rewarded with bits of additional story details as well as some supplies and other helpful items.
There are a number of these optional side events in most areas of the game, hidden away off the main path. Players can come across cult stashes in Alan Wake 2 usually requiring a code or puzzle themselves to loot. Along with these stashes, there are also strange nursery rhymes that can be solved. Below is the solution for the nursery rhyme in Watery, numbered at its location as "1."
Alan Wake 2: Solution To Watery Nursery Rhyme #1 Puzzle
In the chapter titled Return 3: Local Girl, players will have control of FBI agent Saga Anderson as she navigates the flooded areas of the appropriately named suburb of Watery. After talking to the Kalevala brothers, players will be directed up a woodland trail. As they are following the winding path north, it will eventually curve east, and players can either continue east and north or head south on a smaller trail. If players decide to head south from the split, it will lead to a small isolated overlook located here:
At this spot, players will notice another nursery rhyme setup left by the Federal Bureau of Control, who are conducting their own mysterious research into the strange and unpredictable properties of Bright Falls and Caldron Lake.
The site is marked with a sign on a tree reading "1," indicating that it is likely the first of these rhyme locations in Watery:
Examining the note at the setup, players will notice another rhyme inscribed on it:
Although many players are likely to have some of the dolls needed for these puzzles already, this one requires a new one that can be picked up now. Players should check on top of the equipment to the right of the chalk drawings to find the moose doll.
After adding the doll to their inventory, players then need only to place the moose doll on the chalk drawing of the tree at the bottom right of the rhyme circle:
Take the moose doll from the monitoring equipment to the right of the chalk drawings.
Place it on the chalk drawing of the large tree in the bottom right.
As soon as the moose doll is placed there, Saga will remark that it looks correct. Players can then head down the original path, where they will quickly notice a big change in the environment--a giant moose statue is now in the middle of the road leading back.
Approaching it, players will find a coffee mug charm under the statue's left leg. With this in hand, players can equip it to Saga's charm bracelet, preventing her from dying once, though the charm will break afterward.
