Remedy Entertainment has unveiled the patch notes for the latest Alan Wake 2 update, which makes over a hundred fixes to the game. The True Detective-inspired Alan Wake 2 mostly achieved critical success, but it has been criticized for having several bugs, and the developers are working hard to fix them via constant patches.
A few days ago, Alan Wake 2 released Patch 9. It was a small update that introduced a workaround fix for issues with Xbox players having their audio cut in some of the game’s segments and corrected some bugs that affected missions. Now, gamers can expect a significantly larger update.
Patch 10 for Alan Wake 2 corrects over a hundred issues. Like previous Alan Wake 2 updates, it mostly focuses on squashing general bugs, dealing with mission-specific issues, and fixing multiple localization problems, as well as rebalancing a few aspects of the experience. The most significant change in Patch 10 is that a critical bug that blocked the progress of some players in the Scratch (A New Plan) mission has been solved. Other significant updates include rebalancing for the Nightingale boss fight in the Normal difficulty, stopping a glitch that allowed for rain indoors, and preventing furniture from appearing in the wrong place, which would block the progress of some players.
Apart from these general fixes, each platform also received specific updates. For instance, Alan Wake 2 players on Xbox will finally not need to deal with audio missing or being cut off anymore. PS5 gamers will see two specific changes: a problem with wrong audio states near the game’s end has been fixed, as well as one rare case in which using Share Play would crash the game.
While there are still some issues to solve, Remedy Entertainment is nevertheless doing good work so far, as it released 10 patches in less than a month after the game’s release. The next step, after the bug-fixing is done, is probably to deliver the free DLC promised for Alan Wake 2. Last month, director Sam Lake promised that the title would get free DLC drops after the launch, bringing “significant” chunks of new story content. They have not been available so far, though. Apart from that, Alan Wake 2 already has two expansions planned, which will probably be out in 2024: Night Springs and Lake House. These expansions will be paid and larger, and Night Springs will allow the player to control other characters aside from Alan Wake and Saga Anderson, according to the game's creators.
