Alan Wake 2 leans more into the horror aspects of the series, giving players grotesque and challenging new bosses to fight as they scrap their way through Bright Falls and Cauldron Lake. One of the first bosses players will go toe-to-toe with is former FBI Agent Robert Nightingale.
At the end of the second chapter in Alan Wake 2, players will have to defeat Nightingale after tracking him into the Overlap. He will attack players in three stages, each more aggressive than the last, and while he does not have an immense health pool, he can dish out devastating damage rapidly, so be prepared before walking into his domain.

Days ahead of Alan Wake 2's release, fans may want to know more about when and how it can be played, and what to expect from the sequel.
How to Beat Nightingale in Alan Wake 2
Tips for Nightingale's First Stage
When players first crawl through the rocks to begin the fight, take a moment to investigate the ground around the fight area - once the first stage is completed, players will have a brief moment to find and loot any crates in the area. Use the flashlight to break Nightingale's defense and reveal his Source, the game's version of critical hit spots. Be sure to focus fire on the Source to maximize damage.
Once Nightingale's first stage ends, prompted by an on-screen jump scare flash, players should run to any crates in the area, grab the loot, and head to one of the pathways away from the storm Nightingale is summoning. While running through the path, grab as many supply crates as possible, using rocks to avoid Nightingale's advances. The tall grass can make the boxes on the ground hard to see, so keep a keen eye open to maximize loot and ensure victory in the final stages.
Tips for Nightingale's Final Stages
Nightingale's second stage will mimic his first stage, just more aggressive. Follow the same tactics in the first stage, burning Nightingale down with the flashlight and focusing fire on his Source - be sure to dodge sideways when he goes for his overhead attacks and dodge backward when he charges up a kick or grab.
After the second stage, players will see another jump scare flash on screen, and Nightingale will brew up another storm. Run through the pathways to the final fight area and focus light and fire to take him down. If players are aiming well, Nightingale should drop in roughly 30 shots from Saga's pistol.
Alan Wake 2 is available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
