There are plenty of weapons and armor to find in AI Limit, though not all of them can be found just lying about. While some are sold by merchants, others are locked behind Nucleus trading, which is something that players won't be able to do until later in the game.
Nuclei can be used as both sources of power and as valuable materials used for getting more powerful weapons. If you've played any of the many Soulslike games out there, then this concept shouldn't be strange to you. However, if you don't know how to use that shiny Nucleus you found in AI Limit, here's what you need to do.
AI Limit Review
AI Limit blends anime flair with Soulslike depth, offering immersive worldbuilding, smart combat, and a fresh take on challenge and accessibility.
What Are Nuclei in AI Limit?
A Nucleus is essentially the core of a boss-type enemy in AI Limit, and right off the bat, players can equip it to shift some of their stats around. Specifically, Nuclei can affect the following:
- Absorption Rate: This refers to how many Crystals you get after defeating an enemy.
- Retention Rate: This stat refers to the amount of Crystals you get to keep after dying.
- Energy Absorption: This refers to how much Mud Energy (Sync Rate) you gain after defeating enemies. This does not seem to affect the amount of energy gained when hitting enemies with basic attacks.
For leveling in the early game, we recommend going for a Nucleuis with a high Absorption Rate like Elite Necro's Nucleus so you can level up faster. Otherwise, use one with a high Retention Rate if you find yourself dying often.
How to Get & Use Nuclei in AI Limit
Most bosses in the game will drop a Nucleus when killed. Other bosses, like the Three-Faced Pardoner or the Saint, will drop equipment instead. Some of those equipment are very good, though, so don't be disappointed.
At first, you can either equip a Nucleus or sell it for Crystals. We strongly recommend against the latter, as you can trade Nuclei for boss weapons. If you want to trade a Nucleus in AI Limit, you'll need to progress through the game until you reach the Underground Parish level, which comes right after defeating the Cleansing Knight.
Once you reach the Underground Parish, tag the nearby Branch, then proceed through the hallway. You'll meet a doctor named Adrammalech and his robot assistant Assis. Speak with the doctor, then he'll make an offer on the Nuclei you have. If you don't trade with Andrammalech, you can talk to Assis instead.
Nucleus trading requires a boss' Nucleus as well as several thousand Crystals. As far as we are aware, players cannot obtain duplicates of the same Nucleus from unique bosses in one playthrough. With that said, be very mindful about which Nucleus you trade, as you won't be able to get another copy of it any time soon.
