During an interview with Extra at the Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Disneyland premiere, Filoni told fans they have more than "hope" for Ahsoka season 2, confirming that he's writing it. Filoni admitted there have been challenges but added that he's "pretty happy" with his work on Ahsoka season 2 so far. After expressing his fondness for the team on the show, including Ahsoka actress Rosario Dawson, Filoni said Ahsoka season 2 may be the next project on his Star Wars slate.

I’m so well into that as well. I’ve been writing it. I’m still the single writer on it. So I’m enjoying doing that, but it’s a challenge of course. Working some of these arcs through has been a challenge.

Sadly, the most asked question about Ahsoka season 2 concerns the fate of the late Ray Stevenson's Baylan Skoll. The character was played by Stevenson, who passed away before Ahsoka premiered on Disney Plus. In November 2023, Filoni acknowledged Baylan Skoll's story is incomplete but said they were in a "wait-and-see pattern" at the time of the interview. Rumors are claiming Baylan Skoll will be recast, but official sources have not confirmed or denied any such plans.

Star Wars fans have their ideas on who should replace Stevenson as Baylan Skoll in Ahsoka season 2. However, Stevenson's performance was so revered that whoever ends up taking over the role will undoubtedly have big shoes to fill.

Of course, there are many other lingering questions from the first season that fans want to see resolved. Rumors claim Ahsoka season 2 may be the series final run, with Filoni preparing the wrap up the story in case the show isn't renewed for a third season. So, fans can expect no stone will be left unturned if and when Ahsoka season 2 hits TV screens.
