Crossplay is enabled by default. Whenever you create a match, you can make it available in the universal lobby, allowing players from any platform to join. Can You Enable/Disable Crossplay in Age of Mythology: Retold?

xbox console crossplay settings.

You can enable or disable cross-platform matchmaking from your profile settings on Xbox devices or through the Xbox app on Microsoft Windows. However, the option to modify the crossplay feature is not available on Steam and cannot be enabled or disabled there.

How to Enable or Disable Crossplay in Age of Mythology: Retold

  1. Go to Online Safety & Family in the Settings under the General tab.
  2. Click Xbox Privacy and choose Costume.
  3. Select the “View & Customize” button.
  4. Open the Communication & Multiplayer tab.
  5. Set the option that says “You Can Join Cross-Network Play” to allow or block. (If you want to enable the crossplay feature, set it to allow and vice versa.)

The process is the same for Windows on the Xbox app. Open the app, click your profile, and go to the Privacy Settings menu from the Account tab.

It's important to note that turning off crossplay on Windows and Xbox will only block Steam players, meaning you’ll still match with Xbox Series X and S players. This could be a concern in competitive matches, as console players primarily use controllers, which can be limiting in RTS games like Age of Mythology: Retold. Currently, the only solution for competitive play is to use a mouse and keyboard on Xbox if that’s a concern for you.
