Age of Empires Mobile has been a successful release from TiMi Studios, quickly attracting millions of players to its servers. However, this surge in interest has led to issues for some players who are unhappy with their current in-game world and want to transfer to a new map, mainly to play with friends. As you may know, you can only team up with or attack players on the same server.

While a workaround exists to join friends on other servers, Age of Empires Mobile currently lacks a proper data transfer mechanism. And it’s unlikely that the developers will introduce such a feature anytime soon as they have not addressed the issue yet.
How to Change Servers in Age of Empires Mobile
- Tap your profile avatar on the top-left corner of the screen.
- Select Settings from the bottom-left corner under Governor Info.
- Go to “Characters.”
- In the Character Management tab, select “Create.”
- Choose the new server and select “Confirm.”
You can only join servers marked with a green thumbs-up icon. Servers with a red dot on their title are already full and cannot accept new players. If any players on those servers delete their accounts, you may have a chance to join, but you'll need to keep an eye on your desired server for that opportunity.
How to Add Friends to the New Server
Once you successfully change your server, you can add friends by searching for their name or their Governor Account number. To do this, tap “Friends” next to the Inventory menu, and from the bottom navigation bar, select “Add Friend.”
You will be able to join new Alliances on the server as well.
Can You Transfer Your Citadel to Another Server?
Unfortunately, Age of Empires Mobile does not allow you to move the current Citadel to a new server. When you switch to another map, you'll have to start over and continue with a fresh character.
However, you won't lose your progress on your current account when changing servers. Age of Empires Mobile allows you to have multiple accounts on different servers simultaneously. So, if joining a new server is your only option to play with friends, you can keep your main account and use a secondary one to play with them.
The game's player base has been urging the developers on Discord to enable account transfers, but they have not commented on whether this feature will be added to AoE Mobile.
What’s the Difference Between Relocating and Changing Servers?
Relocation occurs within the same server. With the limited-time relocation ticket given to all players at the start, you can move your Citadel to another region on the same server. This Targeted Relocator ticket is located in your inventory under the Other tab. However, switching servers means starting a new game on a different map with a new set of players.
Before you use the limited-time Targeted Relocator, you must advance the campaign to chapter seven.
