It's hard to come across anyone who isn't playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The game has had incredible staying power in-part because of new content recently added for the Earth Day update, but also because of the thriving online scene for trading items and unique designs. Various companies have been jumping onto the hype train of creating designs for their fans in Animal Crossing, and the basic cable network Adult Swim is one of the latest to do so.
The official Adult Swim Games Twitter account posted a thread Thursday featuring dozens of outfits based on some of their popular shows that can be downloaded from the kiosk in the Able Sisters Shop. For instance players can get a wifebeater that makes them look like Carl from Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Jack's robe from Samurai Jack, or the lab coat of Rick Sanchez from Rick and Morty. There are also miscellaneous designs featuring the Adult Swim logo, Toonami Tom, and more.
Adult Swim is not the first company to push its brand into Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but it's hard to argue with the quality of its designs. The Twitter thread is also chock full of little references and jokes that make it worth a perusal, like starting off saying the Happy Home Academy loves the notoriously run-down home from Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
Based on the NPD for March 2020, Animal Crossing: New Horizons was not only the best-selling game of that month, but also instantly became one of the fastest-selling Nintendo titles of all time. There are tons of people logging into the game every day thanks to Nintendo's relatively frequent content drip, and that makes the game a perfect place for creative marketing.
Another high-profile group that recently gave players access to an expansive catalogue in Animal Crossing was the Getty Museum. It put together an Art Generator that anyone who wants can now use to pull pieces of fine art from the museum's open-access collection and add onto their islands — well before Redd was introduced to peddle possibly fake pieces of art.
While Adult Swim's content is not necessarily in the same category as the Getty's open-access collection, there are tons of fans of shows like Rick and Morty that would probably love to make their island flag into Pickle Rick. That's part of the beauty of a chill, creatively-oriented game like Animal Crossing: Taking what everyone loves and using it to spruce up a deserted island.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now, exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
