How to Get the Water Mill Gear Chest in Assassin's Creed…

Of the three settlements north of Baghdad in Assassin's Creed Mirage, the Water Mill is the closest. Technically, this area is part of the Baghdad outskirts rather than a town on its own, but it's still far enough away to be part of the Wilderness region.

Aside from the viewpoint on the southern side of the Water Mill, this area also hosts a historical site and a gear chest. Gear chests are some of the most important collectibles in Assassin's Creed Mirage since they hold clothing, weapons, and upgrade schematics, and some players may have trouble getting into this one thanks to a lost key.

How to Get to the Water Mill Gear Chest

Once players locate the building with the gear chest inside (northwest of the watermill building), they should notice a large pit on the south side. A moveable stone shelf is blocking a doorway in this pit, but players can't pull it out thanks to an anvil and a small hay bale.

Both the anvil and the hay are objects Basim can pick up and carry, so players should grab one of them and drop it anywhere else. On every system, the button to drop the item is the same one that picks it up. The two items are far enough apart that players should only need to move one of them to pull the stone shelf away from the door.

Inside the room is a gear chest, a materials chest, and a tools chest. Players can grab the materials and equipment right away, but the gear chest has a lock on it that needs a key.

Where to Find the Water Mill Gear Chest Key

Players can find a hint about the key's location on a note. This note is east of the pit on a well lid. According to what it says, players should look for the key close to the watermill itself.

While players won't find the key with Eagle Vision from the building or the note's location, but it's close enough for Enkidu to find it if players have the Eagle's first upgrade. Specifically, the key is in the water north of the walkway that runs east of the watermill. It's very close to the historical site marker for "Agriculture." The water is shallow enough that Basim can grab the key while swimming on the surface.

The reward for opening this chest is the Hidden One Dagger or else an upgrade schematic for the weapon. This dagger works well with the Hidden Ones Sword by releasing a puff of poison smoke when players kill a poisoned enemy.
