While the outer gates of Baghdad in Assassin's Creed Mirage take their names from local features like the Four Markets and Nestorian Monastery (known by locals as the Greeks), the inner gates of the Round City have far grander names. Each one takes its name from major cities throughout the rest of the Abbasid Empire, which is why the northeast gate is called the Khurasan Gate.
The Khurasan Gate is bigger than the other three because it hosts a special garrison that refuses to let anyone pass through. This gate garrison has a gear chest on its highest rooftop, and so players must figure out how to infiltrate it if they want to reach its contents. And if that wasn't bad enough, this gear chest also features one of the many Assassin's Creed Mirage moving shelf puzzles.
How to Get to the Khurasan Gate Garrison Gear Chest
Getting up to the gear chest on its own isn't easy, especially for players who start outside the Round City. Most of the walls have spikes along the top that prevent Basim from climbing directly into the garrison. Instead, the best place to start is along the walls of the Round City, either west or south of the gate. These walls have few guards patrolling them, making it easy for players to move along them and into a less guarded section of the garrison.
The next step is to reach the upper rooftop where the gear chest is. The best way to get up is to use the lift in the image above, which is on the northwest side of the gatehouse. It's close to where the gatehouse touches the wall, so the best way to approach is by climbing up the north wall. Still, players who enter the garrison from the other side can climb across the front face of the gatehouse to avoid most of the guards.
Two archers patrol the gate's roof, so players should take care of them before they focus on the gear chest puzzle. Once they're gone, players will find the chest in the enclosure on the opposite side of the roof.
How to Solve the Khurasan Gate Garrison Gear Chest Puzzle
Between the spike fence and the solid red tarps, players have no way to climb into the enclosure where the gear chest is. The only way in is to move the two stone shelves on the right side of the enclosure. However, there's another problem: the left shelf can only move a little forward, and the right shelf has a clay pot blocking it.
There are two ways to get past this obstacle. First, move the left shelf forward and then try to hit the clay pot with a wild swing. Second, move to the right of the shelves to look at the pot from outside the fence. The spikes are far enough apart that a throwing dagger can pass through them and break the pot.
Once the pot is gone, move the right shelf as far in as possible. The gear chest is on the far side of the enclosure.
The chest contains the Zanj Uprising Outfit or else an upgrade schematic for it. This outfit reduces Basim's notoriety gain when he gets caught performing illegal actions.
