While it's not such a crucial resource during the early game, players will quickly begin relying on brass during their day-to-day play. This material can't be mined, making it a lot rarer than other resources such as lead and iron. This guide will go through all there is to know about farming as much brass as possible.
Items That Contain Brass In 7 Days To Die
There are only a handful of items that contain brass. However, for the most part, items that contain brass aren't that common. Instead, players are more likely to come across scrap brass when searching various containers. The items that contain brass are listed below:
- Brass Faucet (Two Different Types)
- Brass Radiator
- Trophies
- Bullet Casings
- Candelabra (Only Available In Creative Mode)
- Dukes
Brass faucets can be found in kitchens and bathrooms. They are pretty easy to spot. To loot them, you'll need to use a tool like a wrench to pry the faucet away from its unit. Trophies can be found inside cases and cabinets, primarily inside schools and arenas.
Bullet casings can be found fairly often while looting. However, these are a crucial component needed to craft bullets, so it's best not to scrap these for their brass. But places like police stations and Shotgun Messiah stores and factories typically have plenty of bullet casings that can be looted.
As for brass radiators, these can sometimes be found in Pas 'N Gas loot containers. But, players will find them fairly often while breaking down cars and other vehicles. Players may also get some scrap brass while breaking down various machines and pieces of equipment.
Dukes are normally worth holding onto as they are the game's core currency. But, as you progress through the game, you will naturally start collecting lots of Dukes. Should you find yourself in a position where you have more dukes than you could possibly spend, then it may be worth burning some money for brass. However, it's worth checking trader's inventories as they will sometimes sell bullet casings for a relatively low price.
Increase The Amount Of Brass You Collect In 7 Days To Die
With the right set of perks, consumables, and armor pieces, it's possible to stumble across extra brass while exploring the world. Firstly, you'll want to use a tool like a wrench, ratchet, or impact driver to take things like vehicles and cash registers apart. This will net you a lot more than if you just use a standard axe.
If you wear Scavenger Gloves, then you will receive more items while salvaging. The bonus to salvage harvest depends on the quality of the gloves. All of the level qualities for this armor piece can be seen below:

- Rank 2: Harvest 40% Faster, Gain Up To 40% More Resources
- Rank 3: Harvest 60% Faster, Gain Up To 60% More Resources

It's also worth putting a couple of points on the Lucky Looter as it will reduce the time it takes to search cars and containers. It will also give you better loot in general. While this won't affect brass that much, being able to get extra loot is always a good thing.
Something that is worth keeping an eye out for is the Lucky Looter #3 magazine. When read, this magazine will grant the player a permanent boost to the amount of brass they find inside loot containers.
If you combine the things mentioned above and purchase a couple of Hackers to eat for a 20% salvage harvest boost, then you can dramatically increase how much salvage you get while out looting and breaking down vehicles.
Purchasing Brass From Traders In 7 Days To Die
While it's not the most efficient way of stockpiling brass, purchasing some from traders (when available) can be a nice way to get a little extra brass. Since you will go through brass pretty quickly, especially during the late stages of the game, any extra brass that you can get hold of is always a good thing.
Items You Shouldn't Sell To Traders in 7 Days To Die
7 Days to Die players should resist the temptation of selling the following items, as they may regret it later.
It's not the most expensive thing to purchase, but it is still relatively costly, especially early on. But there are things you can do to improve the prices of items that traders sell. Things like the better barter perk and the cigar armor mod will make things a little cheaper to buy.
Also, traders will often sell bullet casings. This is especially true for Trader Hugh, as he specializes in all things weapon-related. Bullet casings are relatively cheap to purchase, and as mentioned in the previous entry, they contain some brass.
Smelting Brass In 7 Days To Die
Brass items can be smelted in a forge. The smelted brass can then be used to craft things like bullet casings, which are a core component of most ammo types. Getting a forge set up is fairly easy. However, when in use, a forge will generate a fair amount of heat that can attract screamers.
To avoid this happening, it's best to turn on the forge when you go out to do some looting or complete some missions. If you aren't in the area, then no screamers will spawn. It's always worth having a few forges set up. Keep a couple for producing things like forged iron and steel, keep at least one for crafting cement, and then have one dedicated to smelting down brass and lead.
When it comes to smelting brass, you'll get considerably more brass for smelting objects like radiators and trophies if you just put them straight in the forge without breaking them down first. So, when possible, try to keep items like radiators intact while looting for some extra smelted brass.
What Is Brass Used For In 7 Days To Die?
As mentioned several times throughout this article, brass is required to produce most types of ammo. Since brass can't be mined, it's important for players to hang on to as much brass as possible for their ammo crafting needs.
Most bullets in the game are made up of three components; bullet tips, gunpowder, and bullet casings. Bullet tips are made using lead and clay, gunpowder is made from coal and nitrate powder, and bullet casings are made using brass and clay. The amount of brass needed to produce bullet casings depends on the player's perks, magazines, and buffs. As standard, it costs 6 brass and 1 clay to produce 1 bullet casing.
