2021 doesn’t seem that long ago, but it has already been six years. While some games from that year still get talked about, others are not so lucky. Even more, some games are still getting played. Perhaps not in large numbers like current games or games from 2025, but there are enough to make an intriguing list worth discussing.
The Most Replayable Video Game Of Every Year Of The 2010s
These games from the 2010s offered the best bang for your buck in each year, as they could be frequently replayed without losing any of their appeal.
There are reasons why some of these games are still hitting numbers on Steam, which is the easiest way to track player count. Among other consoles, the following games could be doing even better, but there is no way of knowing. From online games to single-player experiences, these games from 2021 are still making their rounds. Perhaps they will see even bigger spikes throughout 2026, but for now, these are some of the most interesting ones to talk about.

Resident Evil Village
A Grace Period
Resident Evil Village is getting a slight bump on Steam, and there’s actually a good reason why. It is the eighth mainline game in the franchise, featuring Ethan Winters once again as the protagonist who has to fight a group of supernatural misfits to get his daughter, Rose, back in a vague European settlement.
While the events will not lead into the next game, the impending release of Resident Evil Requiem has a lot of fans replaying Resident Evil games at the moment to build up hype. Resident Evil Village takes some wild narrative swings, and the best thing about it is the set pieces, as they are all nicely varied, from a haunted doll house to a vampire mansion.
It Takes Two
Still A Unique Co-Op Experience
It Takes Two is one of the most unique co-op-only experiences of all time, so it’s no wonder that it is still extremely popular on Steam, getting close to five-digit numbers. As a husband and wife duo who are about to get a divorce, they suddenly get transformed into dolls and have to work together to hopefully break the curse.
It can technically be called a platformer, but the gameplay is never consistent, changing rapidly on the fly, which helps keep the pace. From playing retro games to riding frogs, It Takes Two will keep players on their toes.
Forza Horizon 5
Racing Toward Japan
- Developer(s)
- Playground Games
- Genre(s)
- Racing, Open-World
- Platform(s)
- PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X
The Forza Horizon series keeps getting better and better between releases, with the cars and environments always looking stunning. Forza Horizon 5 takes place in Mexico and has a lot of rivers to cross, mud trails to speed through, and expertly crafted paved courses to fully test out the makeup of a car.
Forza Horizon 5 has a great following on Steam still, which makes sense since it is the latest edition, and racing fans always need a game to sit back and chill to. That will change when Forza Horizon 6 launches later in 2026. Can its Japan location outdo Mexico from Forza Horizon 5?
Mass Effect Legendary Edition
Can’t Mess With An RPG Classic
Mass Effect Legendary Edition is a collection of the original Mass Effect trilogy, one of the most beloved of all time. There are other space RPGs, but nothing quite like Mass Effect, and fans have been waiting a long time for a proper sequel.
The 10 Most Visually Stunning Video Games of the 20th Century, Ranked
Though these games are a few decades old, they are still visually among the most charming games of their time.
Mass Effect: Andromeda was released in 2017, and it didn’t quite hit the same heights. The fifth game was teased in 2020, but no real news has surfaced since then besides more vague teasers. It’s been so long since Mass Effect fans had a treat that it’s no wonder this collection still trends on Steam, as they are trying to keep the faith alive.
Battlefield 2042
The Future Of War Has Improved
- Developer(s)
- DICE, Criterion Games, Ripple Effect
- Genre(s)
- First-Person Shooter
- Platform(s)
- PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X
Battlefield 2042 did not launch with high praise, as there were a lot of technical issues. To the developer’s credit, DICE stuck to their guns, released a lot of patches and expansions, and made it a more playable game over time.
Even though Battlefield 6 is now out, which still has high numbers, there are hundreds, if not thousands, at peaks still beating the drum for Battlefield 2042. It is, after all, a much different game with all of the future tech and weather effects, so both Battlefield games can hopefully continue to exist in harmony as long as EA keeps the servers running.
Hitman 3
It’s A Killer
Hitman 3 concluded the trilogy in 2021 with another set of great open-ended missions starring the ever-elusive Agent 47. This game, and the two previous iterations, were then packaged in Hitman World of Assassination, which is the new HUB that joins all playable missions together.
It’s what makes Hitman 3 still playable, and the numbers are solid, albeit much lower than the game’s peaks. There’s nothing quite like a Hitman mission, as there are different ways to tackle them from sneaking around as Agent 47 himself to dressing up as various NPCs, including detectives, drummers, and more.
Guilty Gear Strive
Striving Toward Perfection
- ESRB
- T For Teen due to Blood, Language, Mild Suggestive Themes, Violence
- Genre(s)
- Fighting
Guilty Gear Strive is the latest entry in the fighting game series. Once a new entry drops in any of the legendary fighting game franchises, it is sure to stick around for a long time thanks to fighting game tournaments.
For Guilty Gear fans, they were pleased with the rollout of this latest game at launch, hovering between 2D and 3D art styles with expertly crafted stages, characters, and moves that are astounding to watch in action. It may be hard to jump into for newcomers, but visually, even they can appreciate what’s happening on screen as they get pummeled online by someone superior.
Hell Let Loose
Opposing Fronts
- Developer(s)
- Black Matter
- Genre(s)
- First-Person Shooter
- Platform(s)
- PS5, PC, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S
Hell Let Loose is a first-person shooter focused on multiplayer that is set during World War 2. Instead of following just the U.S. Allied forces in Europe like so many World War 2 games, players can jump around different fronts of the war, including East, West, and North Africa.
10 Most Polarizing Games Released Since 2010
Explore the games that have had fans talking and arguing since the dawn of the 2010s in this collection of the most polarizing titles.
The player numbers are actually consistently better than those of Battlefield 2042, and there may be a reason for that. Hell Let Loose: Vietnam is coming out in 2026, so the player count could have risen because fans want to familiarize themselves with the controls again before the next entry drops in, admittedly, an even more hectic war zone.
Naraka: Bladepoint
Dynasty Warriors
- Developer(s)
- 24 Entertainment, Thunder Fire Universe X Studio
- Genre(s)
- Battle Royale, Action-Adventure
- Platform(s)
- PC, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PS5
Free-to-play games come and go, with some finding an audience and others dwindling. Five years later, Naraka: Bladepoint is absolutely thriving with the highest concurrent numbers well above the average of these other titles on Steam.
Smartly, Naraka: Bladepoint has hosted some great gaming tie-in events to get big franchises on board to draw in fans, like adding skins from Persona 5 and characters from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The game itself is a Battle Royale experience, but one that focuses on melee combat and fast-paced platforming like a good Wuxia film, which makes it stand out next to others like Fortnite and PUBG.
Inscryption
More Than Meets The Eye
Inscryption, at its core, is a roguelike wherein players will explore the forest, enter huts, and do battle with mysterious strangers. The goal is to use their charismatic-looking animal cards to tip the scales in their favor, but Inscryption is so much more than a card game. Sometimes players will have to get up in these huts to solve some puzzles.
It’s unsettling and easily the scariest card roguelike ever made, but it’s these spooky vibes that also make it so compelling. Plus, there’s a meta fourth wall-breaking factor to the game, and fully diving in would spoil things, but let’s just say the card game barely scratches the surface of what Inscryption is really about, which is probably why players are compelled to keep at it years later.
