Ever since Riot ventured into the shooter genre with Valorant, they have been vocal about venturing into the fighting game genre as well. Previously titled Project L, 2XKO is giving Riot Games the momentum they need to make a standout tag team fighter.
2XKO is known by many who have followed fighting games closely for a long time now. Riot has been making sure this is the best game they can possibly release, and they want it to deliver a high level of competition while staying accessible to casual players. With that sentiment in mind, they are ready to begin the next steps to ensure that this game is ready for its eventual release. Here is how to register for the newly announced closed beta for 2XKO in September 2025.

How to Register for the New 2XKO Closed Beta
2XKO has been active with closed playtests, and Riot is ready to move the game to a beta state. To register for it, go to the main website for 2XKO, and you will see a tab on the home page for the closed beta. Upon clicking this tab, you will be directed to sign in to or create a Riot Games account if you are not already signed in to one. As you confirm your personal information and make sure it matches your account info, you will automatically be registered for the closed beta.
The start date for this beta is September 9, and there is no confirmed end date. The goal of this is to test the back-end maintenance systems Riot plans to use for 2XKO, ensuring that things like rollback net code perform optimally under high levels of player stress. Due to its unorthodox nature, this closed beta will only be available on PC.
While that may be upsetting to some, you will be able to carry your progression over to consoles if any future betas are announced, and then to the full release down the road. In the past, there was also a closed alpha test available on consoles and PC. If you partook in this alpha test, you are already pre-registered for this beta.
There are no specific dates when codes are likely to be sent out, so they are likely to be released sporadically between now and the beta start date of September 9. Be sure to check your spam/junk folders, as emails containing the codes are known to show up there instead of in your main inbox.
This closed beta will feature all previously announced characters, along with the newly announced character Vi, recently recognizable from the hit Netflix series Arcane. The previously listed available characters are:
- Echo
- Ari
- Yasuo
- Braum
- Atriox
- Illar
- Jinx
