How Long Does it Take to Beat Astro Bot?

Those wondering how long it takes to beat Astro Bot have come to the right place, as too has anybody wondering if it's worth playing.

By

Review aggregate site Metacritic keeps track of the highest-rated new video game releases, and according to its data, Astro Bot now finds itself in the 74th spot. It's one spot ahead of another beloved PS5 game, God of War: Ragnarok, and just behind Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow. It's possible Astro Bot's overall score will change slightly as more reviews are counted, but it's highly unlikely it will fall out of the top 100 and chances are good that it will stay around the 74th position.

The overwhelmingly positive reception that Astro Bot is currently enjoying has made it a favorite for Game of the Year at The Game Awards in December. Its main competition is Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, a fellow PS5 exclusive that similarly earned near-universal praise. However, Astro Bot reviews were even more positive than FF7 Rebirth, and so it would be surprising to see Rebirth beat it for the coveted award.

Of course, it's always possible that upcoming games will score even higher than Astro Bot. Nintendo is launching The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom later this month, and the Zelda franchise has consistently found itself in the top 100 highest-rated games of all time list. Mario & Luigi: Brothership stands a shot at cracking the top 100 as well, plus there's Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, STALKER 2, and a number of other high-profile games releasing between now and the end of the year.

It remains to be seen if Astro Bot can maintain its spot as the highest-rated new game release of 2024, but other games certainly have their work cut out for them. While gamers wait for those new titles to hit store shelves, they can pick up Astro Bot on PS5 and see if it lives up to the hype.
