IO Interactive, the studio behind the iconic Hitman series, has updated the PC system requirements for its upcoming James Bond title, 007 First Light, after the community noted several "inconsistencies" with the previous specifications. Those looking to purchase 007 First Light on PC when it launches later this year will be pleased to know that the recommended RAM has been reduced from 32GB to 16GB, VRAM requirements have been lowered for both minimum and recommended, and more.

To kick off 2026, IO Interactive revealed the official PC system requirements for 007 First Light - its upcoming James Bond title - last week. However, the community, which had been eagerly awaiting the official requirements ever since its stunning reveal last year, quickly called out some pretty major inconsistencies with both the minimum and recommended specs. The first discrepancy was that the minimum hardware requirements listed an Intel Core i5 9500k, a CPU that simply does not exist. Fans also noted how the RAM requirements, in a time where the price of RAM is sky rocketing, was extremely high, with the recommended specs listing 32GB for just 1080p at 60 FPS.

New 007 First Light PC Requirements Revealed

These errors and high requirements left much of the community baffled, but IO Interactive has now issued a new statement on Twitter and released updated specifications that will make all PC users breathe a sigh of relief. The Hitman developer says that the earlier mistake was due to an internal miscommunication which led to an older version of the specs being shared online, but that a thorough re-examination and additional testing has now taken place. IO Interactive goes on to apologies for the confusion and says additional performance targets will be shared closer to launch.

The new PC requirements for 007 First Light can be found in the post below, with the recommended amount of RAM now reduced from 32GB to 16GB, VRAM lowered from 8GB to 6GB for minimum and 12GB to 8GB for recommended, and the removal of the "k" from the Intel Core i5 9500 at minimum requirement. Any PC enthusiasts will likely be well aware that we are in the midst of a RAM crisis, with some reports even suggesting that the PlayStation 6 and next-gen Xbox could be delayed because of the ongoing situation. So it's good to know that 007 First Light won't require 32GB of RAM to run at just 1080p 60 FPS.

However, the new lowered requirements has raised some eyebrows as many are concerned the upcoming title may be poorly optimized after seeing the first 007 First Light gameplay at last year's State of Play. While the world of this new James Bond story looks absolutely stunning, fans quickly pointed out that the performance of the game looked "rough" due to the constant stuttering and frame drops throughout the showcase. Now, with these lowered requirements, many are curious to see how 007 First Light is going to run on PC when it launches later this year.

With that being said, 007 First Light was recently delayed from its March 27, 2026 release date to May 27, 2026, as the studio says the extra time will allow the studio to ensure the experience meets the levels of quality players deserve on day one. IO Interactive called the game its most ambitious project to date and said that it is now playable from beginning to end, which means the additional two months of development time will allow for further polishing and refining.
